Are you sure that your charts did not have a custom correction, for example to agree with WGS84, that your backup files did not have?

Out of interest, what charts are you talking about?
It is possible to correct both bsb charts and to a certain degree CM93 in OpenCPN.

Hey Thomas
I loaded on my last HD, ENC with CM93 charts. Then I added CPN linking to the same maps. When I reformatted the HD I only loaded the CM93 maps and not the ENC program. Do you think I need to also install the ENC program?? I went from windows home to windows pro... my toughbook laptop has windows pro from the same disk and works fine ...putting my boat where it should be and not .3 miles east. My PC keeps putting me on land and I really don't know why.
Thanks for your help.

got my boat back where it should be. There should be 2 files at the end of the CM93 folder... that were not in the folder. 20011201.EXD and 20020401.EXD . These files put my boat back 1/3 mile west where it really sits. Wonder what these files are. Thanks all for the help.....

Blondha...
Could you post the two .EXD files here for our review?

I don't know what they are, but I am now curious...

Thanks

Blondha....

1. Copy and Rename them to <blah>.EXD.doc This forum has restrictions on the types of files that may be uploaded, so we convert to .doc extension.

2. Attach them to a reply like this one, using the little paper clip icon in the toolbar above.

Thanks
Dave

Blondha....

Well, they are essentially empty of content. Two (2!) bytes long. <cr>, <lf> Nothing else there.

I have no clue.

Try this, if you have the time: temporarily rename these files to something other than <>.EXD, and try opencpn again. This is just to be convinced that something needs to see those (empty) files. I know that OpenCPN does not use them....

Anyway, I'm glad whatever you did is now working

Thanks
Dave

Blondha,

I am curious about the ENC program you referred to. Can you tell more about its source and how you came by a copy of it. Have you run it since loading a new copy of the CPM-93 charts. Any further details about the ENC program will be greatly appreciated.

It maybe that the .EXD extension stands for "ENC eXtended Data". The ENC program could be correcting charts with other datums to the WGS-84 datum, and saving the corrections in the .EXD files. This would be a very good thing!

Thank you very much,

Paul

Upload routes to GPS Furuno GP32

Hi All,

I am new on this forum and I begin to use Opencpn which seems to be a great software. But I have a problem to upload a route in my Furuno GP32 from the computer. I follow all the Furuno's procedure but I never succeed.
Before that with an other software it was working. I don't find any solution in this forum. Could anybody help me.
Thanks

I have an installation problem but am concerned I may be hijacking somebodies thread here. If so please could you tell me where to post my question.

I have just tried to download and install opencpn following the instructions verbatim as I am not a Linux expert. I got as far as "make" in the instructions and got the following output. Any help on what to do would be much appreciated as I would really like some good chartplotter software on my EEE PC (Ubuntu 10.10)

This is the well know pixbuff bug in CMake. Ubuntu 10.10 has version 2.8.2. Update to Cmake 2.8.3 here. This will fix the problem If I recall correctly.

Hi dwiprasada,

There is data missing from your incoming NMEA strings. I see only one valid string in your Hyperterminal output: $GPDTM,W84,,0.0,N,0.0,E,0.0,W84*6F

The rest of the strings are incomplete. The strange thing is, the first bytes of the sentences are missing and this is constant. I suspect your GPS here
