Well, that is the problem, how do I change the dongle settings? I tried PolarCom but wasn't successful. But thanks for your input

Peter Lenhard navibe GM720 english

"If you need a baud-rate 4800, you have to use additional tools."

There's some info regarding your unit here.

Thanks, I think you have found a solution on Peters webpage. We see if I try that or just buy a new dongle for 30 Euro.....

Help, ships position

HI all.
If I right click on the chart, and select "Move Boat Here" the boat icon cordially moves to the selected location.
Now I want to snap-back to the actual GPS derived live position, I click the "Auto Follow" button but the chart centers on the new false "Move Boat Here" position.
How does one reset the position of the boat icon to "Actual" position?
(Trawled the forum have not found this q)

Nope, that did not happen. In fact the only way to get back on pos, is to manually put her there.
Does yours do that?
I shut down, restarted, gps off, on, etc but noting will move the vessel from the "Move Boat Here" position, I can move the boat repetitively, but same scenario.

I actually did what Peter Lenhard recommended but I went through the manufacturers Support, service@cpss.com.tw, and ask how to do it. They sent me instructions and the same software, (Sirfdemo.exe, ver 3.86) as Peter used but a newer version. It was a .rar file so I needed to download "Winrar" (rarlabs.com) in order to extract. Then I just followed the instructions and it went well. My dongle now runs with 4800 baud rate and works perfect with OpenCPN!

Thanks everyone!

OK Thanks or Dankje wel! If I understand how yours works, you can move the ship, but as soon as you press the Auto Follow, or at the next arrival of an NMEA sentence after pressing it, your ship icon snaps to the actual GPS position? If so its clear that I have a bug. What is your environment, OS, Ver. etc?

Linux, 1.3.6, snaps as described. Are you sure openCPN is actually receiving GPS input at all?

hmmm The AIS info is getting through, all the other sentences appear in the "live window" I'm on WinXP , 1.3.6, umm, in the left lower corner there is a position given, this agrees with my Raymoron instrument, so I think the system is aware, I am going to go through toggling all other settings, like radar rings etc...Thanks idpnd on many things too.

Raymoron! Hehe! Like it. Sounds like youre getting signal though. If you're receiving it from the AIS stream, make sure the GPS is set to "same source as AIS" or whatever. Would you try and delete the .ini config file and reinstall from scratch?

Short happiness...... The dongle went back to 9600 baud when it was disconnected and when asking the support at the manufacturer, he answers "The default settings is 9600. When you unplug the GPS after some time it will reset to default.

So it ends up with a new dongle... But I have at least tried!
