Gribs not possible over 180 meridian

I posted this before and got no response.
If I try to ask for a GRIB file that runs eg from 170E to 165W I get and error message saying that max lon. is less than min lon....which it isn't.
It doesn't seem to matter what numbers are in there...if they straddle the 180 meridian...it just won't do it
this is not much use to those of us that sail in this area.
How do we get around this, gurus ??

Thanks for an answer....

Cheers
Alan

Re: Gribs not possible over 180 meridian

Well,
I can't post the GRIB file because it won't allow me to select it.
I noticed that if I made it 179E to 165E, it worked , but if I made it 179W to 165E, I got the error message...
It clearly has something to do with the "sign" of the longitude....ie if it is all W its OK, all E OK, but E and W , ie straddling the 180 merdian, it doesn't work.

Re: Gribs not possible over 180 meridian

can't you rename the file to a different extension like file.grb.pdf ?

Sean...
There is no problem with any gribfile.
He is talking about creating the request crossing the dateline.
It is of course doable if you edit the request manually, but there seems to be some problem with the graphical tool.

Re: Gribs not possible over 180 meridian

So, it has bad logic in the email request.. ok got it.

I noticed also if I zoom out really far, it has a different error if the longitudes are more than 180 apart. Is this invalid for saildocs?

Because really you might request from 170W to 170E and get something different from 170E to 170W.
