Re: GPS - Windows 10

Sorry, that was not a success, he was recieving gps via wifi.

Here is another earlier link with other experiences.

I think if you try my suggestion above and you cannot get it working, that the chip does not provide the nmea serial stream needed

Re: GPS - Windows 10

That sensor appears to be very problematical.

Sorry can't find the link to the program you are referring to.

Can you please give me a direct link to the program

The only one I can find is https://bitbucket.org/petrsimon/geolocationtcp/overview
and that one I have used as shown in previous post

Re: GPS - Windows 10

Yes, I was thinking it might be worthwhile to try the petrsimon tcp link you have above, with no other program, following his instructions.

The opencpn.org website and the user manual are not accessible at the moment, but there are some other suggestions under Supplimental Software - windows gps that you could also try.

Re: GPS - Windows 10

If we could just get one of these working, we would be able to provide good instructions to other broadcom users...very frustrating I know.

Re: GPS - Windows 10

One other thought would be to save a file with the serial data stream that can get in whatever manner you can save it, and upload it here to see if there is some difference in its format.

Have now got it working with GeolocationTCP-r9 and Network settings in
OpenCPN accordingly. Wifi still on!
Still unable to get it working with serial Com3 settings.

Find enclosed screenshots of streams from OpenCPN and GnssDataInterface

Have now tried different versions of Virtual Com Ports (com0com and EltimaVSPD) Still not working. Would changing pinouts on port settings make it work?

Re: GPS - Windows 10

Fyreking,
So it is working by using TCP but not with use of serial port.

I was thinking of using the nmea data txt file and running it with VDR player to see if the data itself worked (which I think will work). So if you could highlight and copy the output of the gnssdatainterface program and save it into a txt file named broadcom.doc, then attach that file to a post, I can see if it works properly.

If it does work properly we are then left with a guestion about why the data does not get through as serial. And I think we will need to rely on some opencpn gurus to answer that question.

I would not rewire anything, but perhaps use tcp until someone figures it out.
