GPS and TCP datastream

Hi All,

For simulation of GPS and AIS, I send NMEA sentences on TCP.
I'm running OCPN Beta Version 3.1.1319
!AIVDM messages work fine and the simulated ships are displayed.

But GPS messages never move the boat to the specified position.

They are received by OpenCPN and visible in the activated NMEA Display Window, for example :
14:35:01 [TCP:localhost:2947] $GPGGA,123519,4807.038,N,01131.000,E,1,08,0.9,545. 4,M,46.9,M,,*47

I tried different GGA and GLL sentences with the same result and I don't see what is wrong.

Grateful for any explanation

Jean Michel

Have you tried the $GPRMC sentence?

Re: GPS and TCP datastream

OK
I have tried this sentence :
$GPRMC,225446,A,4916.45,N,12311.12,W,000.5,054.7,1 91194,020.3,E*68

and the boat is moving to Vancouver !

I don't understand the error whith my $GPGGA and $GPGLL sentences, but this solution is working.

Many thanks

Jean Michel

Re: GPS and TCP datastream

OK, this sentence has a bad checksum
I think it must be *67
During all the tests that I have done, the control checksum was not checked.
So, I did not care of this checksum and only changed lat/lon information.
But with a good checksum, all is working fine
This new version of OCPN it is very easy to simulate GPS and AIS

Thanks you all for your help
