Probably find something cheaper, but just saying they're out there. I haven't looked for a solution to splitting VHF antennae signal before. I'm sure folks here know more about this than I do.
For myself, I didn't want to split the main VHF radio antenna. That's why i liked the all in one.

For 119 bucks why not get an antennae. My VHF is on the mast.My ais VHF antennae is on a rail gives good redundant capability. Seems to work fine receiving ais i and range is satisfactory.

Re: GPS and AIS

for those interested, I just returned from Bimini and the OCPN with GPS and Digital Yacht UBS AIS worked great. Just like the manual described, it provided all the information perfectly. On a side note, the first target happened to be a NASA Space Shuttle being towed south.

Re: GPS and AIS

forgot to mention, the NOAA charts are very poor for the Bahamas. I used the N Route program over there which uses Garmin charts which are the best for the Bahamas.

Hey, that is a rare one, what was the vessel ID? Got a screenshot?

Re: GPS and AIS

Had something with AIS target data in mind, but thanks anyway. Was a big fan of shuttle docking and station assembly live videos back then, kind of sad to see the 'birds' float away..

Re: GPS and AIS

I recently bought the Standard Horizon GX2150 with built-in AIS receiver, which I connected to the Garmin 526 chartplotter. I used the system on a recent passage and it worked great. At $399 MSRP, the Standard Horizon seems a great deal.

Re: GPS and AIS

For less money you get the RO4800 from Radio Ocean / Furuno with same features but also with a wireless handset. The handset can even be used as WalkieTalkie but with a poor range of only 300 feet. Furthermore it works in the same frequency band as WiFi and disturbs my Ubiquiti Bullet. However the AIS part is great.
