I'm in the Galapagos heading for Marquesas in 2 weeks and really excited to get GE working in my OpenCPN BUT having this glich is really frustrating as the internet here is so slow and difficult to make any quick progress. Could someone give me step by step instructions please???
You write that you use the latest version of GE and OpenCPN 25. It may be that the it does not work. Unless I am mistaken, the latest version of GE works with versions 2.6. But this latest version was put online in a post for testing purposes.

Do you use this one:

PlugIns | Official OpenCPN Homepage

this one run with OpenCPN 25

Re: Google Earth Plugin

Here's what's working fine for me:

Win7

OCPN 2.5.0
gecomapi_win32_pi15_v08_pi.dll in the plugins folder

Google Earth 6.2.1.6014 (beta) installed in Programs x86

If you don't have GE 6.2 installed before the GE Plugin was first used it might cause this problem. If you suspect this, remove the plugin from the OCPN plugins folder, install or reinstall GE 6.2 normally, start GE once and then close it. Finally move the GE plugin back into its folder and start OCPN.

good luck, and happy sailing.

Dockline3..

I've updated to OCPN 2.6.1524 which works fine with the latest ver. of GE as well as the GE plugin.

Re: Google Earth Plugin

So strange...I did what you said and for an instant the google logo was on top of the controls for OCPN. Then I went to thank you but went right back to the program started it up and no more Google logo on the bar. Its still in the list of plugins in programs86 but not usable in the program. Any ideas???

Are you a developer of OpenCPN?

Cool, is the new version downloadable yet? I didn't see it on the OpenCPN homepage anywhere.

Re: Google Earth Plugin

Gary...
the latest development version of OpenCPN is available at Download OpenCPN | Official OpenCPN Homepage and the GE plugin compatible with this version at PlugIns | Official OpenCPN Homepage - Just scroll down on those pages. If you have any real problem with those versions, just drop us a note. And yes, I'm the developer of both the plugin and parts of OpenCPN itself.

Thanks Pavel, you should be proud of your work. I enjoy OpenCPN. I hope it stays public domain free software forever.
