My apologies.

It's a ghost (or some settings) on the computer, I guess. I installed everything on another machine and all is working fine now.

Great job and thanks for your patience and help.

Gilletarom...
Well, I would say the only thing it means is that the detail of the chart used is nothing special. Don't they have something better for the SF bay at NOAA? If you check other map sources, Golden Gate is not exactly from S to N, but definitely not as rotated as the chart used shows. So in this case GE is actually correct.
You also always have to remember, that the geographic projection Google Earth uses is not Mercator.
So yes, I would say this is absolutely normal. I would also say the view is north-up. It always is unless you switch OpenCPN to course-up mode (with GPS) or rotate the GE view manually.

GE Plugin: Docking and un-docking And new icon

Hello,

Very strange ...

This morning when I restarted OpenCPN, the problem occurred with docking was gone ...

I added a new xpm icon in the folder UserIcons and I run OpenCPN.

And the problem appeared again last night as ...

And again, this time, the window GE Plug-in was above all others and even displayed above firefox

We must close then reopen OpenCPN for that to change a bit. But then it starts again if I move the window of the plug-in.

There are at least a problem of refreshing the screen in this case

See 3 attached pictures.

Re: Google Earth Plugin Docking, Un-docking and new icon in UserIcons

Hello,

First: I have not seen a similar problem with dasboard window then docking and un-docking. .

Second: I confirm that turning off the computer and then restart it removes the problem.

Best regards

Gilletarom.

Nohal, you mention a very good point ....I think GE uses a simple Lat=Long scale?..I'm so impressed how your plugin works!..(but now we must all rush off to the poles and see if we can crash it!)

Re: Google Earth Plugin

Google did it again! All seems to work OK with GE version 6.0.1.2032 beta but just downloaded version 6.0.2.2074.

It WILL NOT display saved caches from the beta version! They did the same thing going from version 5 to version 6 !!!!

The good news is that it works fine with the plugin when online.

But that's not so good for us cruisers.

nohal..

For some reason the latest plug-in version is not stable on my Vista and I have gone back to v. 0.3 which works fine.

Hello,

I try GE 0.6 with disable access to internet. And so, I use the cache of GE.

All is Ok. Also Ok with GPS conected.

And, after I reconnect internet access with no problem.

Pavel,

Ozi has strong views on using DirectX.

IMPORTANT - this must be done before using Google Earth maps in OziExplorer.
  • Run Google Earth
  • On the Tools menu select the Options item to show the Options Dialog.
  • In the Graphics Mode (3D view tab) section change the Graphics Mode to DirectX.
  • If this is not done OziExplorer will not work correctly with Google Earth.

Re: Google Earth Plugin

I use GPSGate from Franson to split the GPS signal to GE and OCPN. then set GE to follow te signal, and viola - both programs show and follow my location.

wonderful on inland rivers where the satelite visual is (almost) as helpful as the chart.

And AIS trumps both when you've got tugs around the next bend!!
