If all else fails or your looking for an alternative (an improvement IMHO) then try the app OVITALMAP. It allows Google Earth and/or Bing sat images to be downloaded onto your GPS enabled iPad or smart pad,cache memory or extended memory. You can route, track, coordinate, etc. so much easier than the Kap file regime. We've been using it for our route planning and realtime navigation for a few years and quite happy with it.

Nice to know it is good and that it works with iphone.

It also works with android as there is an app that is not on google apps store.

These are a bit obsolete now with significant improvements to GE2KAP since their creation. I suggest that the Step-by-Step Procedures within the program be the ones to peruse.

I have GE2KAP installed on 3 laptops - HP Envy with Win 10, Dell Vostro with Win 7 and a Surface Pro 3 with Win 10 - all installed according to Yacht Vahalla's writeups, with exactly the same versions of programs. OpenCPN 4.8.4, GE2KAP PI 1.6, GE2KAP V29.0.3.0, GE 7.1.2.2041.
The HP and Dell work perfectly, the Surface Pro only does a partial scan.



Attached are - Screenshot of GE, screenshot of OCPN with result, logfile from GE2KAP. (Sorry, haven't figured out how to insert picture.)


Anyone have any ideas about why Surface Pro does this?

Not really know why there's differences between your different Windows but to be sure check the GE version you use. Read more here, paragraph three:
