FURUNO AIS and OpenCPN Compatibility

Can anyone tell me if my FURUNO Easy-TRX 2S-IS-IGPS AIS transponder can be used together with OpenCPN?
It has a USB out plug, but I am unsure whether it is only the AIS brands named in the Open CPN manual that works.

Thank you in advance

Re: FURUNO AIS and OpenCPN Compatibility

Any AIS that is standard compatible should work with OpenCPN, and I take for granted that a Furuno AIS is just that. Brand names in the manual are only samples. Have you tried to get it going?

Re: FURUNO AIS and OpenCPN Compatibility

The device is a FURUNO or a "Easy-TRX 2S-IS-IGPS AIS"?

The latter is from Weatherdock and states transmitting NMEA0183 VDM messages at either 4800 or 38400 Bd.

AIS targets should show up at OCPN without any problem.
(Weatherdock is using OCPN at their development site)

The Easy-trx-25 is made by Weatherdock in Germany.

Can be used with the USB connector (has an internal optical separation).

Or you can use the serial high speed NMEA183 connection.

Works very well with OpenCPN.

The Easy TRX device shouldn't be a problem. Can you clarify where Furuno comes into it? Do you have a Furuno device to interface too?
