FREE Extended AIS Decoder

Here is a free and very useful extended AIS decoder.

Especially for OpenCPN as it presently aborts upon querying AIS targets.

Update. Fired the author an email and he was kind enough to respond in like 3 minutes. The latest version .99 works fine under wine. So can report that it installs and runs under linux......now to test functionality. The author of the program is very prompt in responding to questions. Many thanks to him for that and writing such a nice program.

Aisdecoder will also output directly to Google Earth which gives you live AIS tracking if you have an attached USB AIS, modified VHF to AIS or a wifi AIS. The AIS tracking will also diisplay in the GE plugin as well as in OpenCPN itself.

I am running 2.5.0 on two machines: Asus1000H with XP and Lenovo S100 (32-bit) with W7 Ultimate. No problem displaying AIS Target Query or AIS Target List.

Can the integration with OpenCPN be setup to use the proximity alarm? I dont have an AIS source to test with.

Re: FREE Extended AIS Decoder

Side topic: There are USB AIS units? Any suggested models and prices? I wouldn't mind trying out something in OpenCPN with my GPS puck in the spring while I save up for a Vesper Watchmate.
