This is usually done by simple click and drag, I should imagine that's quite tricky to implement. You could try the mousewheel for more efficient navigation.

concerns AIS.

if you have the (ais)-ship and the end of the (ais)cog-line out of screen, the ais-line is not visible, as long as the alarm is not given yet.

here the line is missing !

Question LEADING LINES

Hi
Leading Lines on CM93 charts ????

I gather that most users of OpenCPN use some version of CM93 vector charts with the program.

These charts when viewed using Maxsea or other nav programs give the degrees in numbers on the Leading Lines. Whereas in OpencPN this information is missing.

Is there a way to enable / show this information on the charts (I assume it is already coded into the CM93 charts anyway or it would not be seen by Maxsea) and in my view would be an important piece of information to show.

Please advise if there is a simple work-round for this or will it require Dave to enable it in a future release.

Doug,
I'm not sure if I know what you mean, but did you try turning on the ENC text (A+ icon)
Also no need to cross-post to the beta thread, the people who can help you read everything...

Dave
Doug double posted, and I answered the wrong one in the 2.1.0 beta thread .
In short, no need for any action from you, the feature is already available. Perhaps it needs to be displayed a bit more prominent, that's all.

1.) we had the question before: could the tracking button be blocked to "always on" somewhere in the toolbox ? or being an autotrackmode all the time ?

2.) is it possible to have a look-ahead modus also in north-up mode ?

Rik-lu....

If you turn on tracking, it will stay on indefinitely. It should preserve its state across closing of opencpn as well, and start up tracking when you restart.

Is this not working for you?

Thanks

in principe it works, if I don't touch the button accidently, which sometimes happened.
so I would prefer the button to be blocked or secured.

I want to append a waypoint on the right , but the map does not move to the left, when the "route/leg" window is open.
not comfortable if you work with a small screen and you cannot go below the "route/leg" window.

and , if there is no gps reception, could you make a big X through the gps-symbol on upper right ? maybe even flashing and beeping ?

Rik-lu

Use the right arrow to move the chart on the left when the "route/leg window is open as you append the waypoint.

Hi Jean-Pierre,

I have a small 800x600 touchscreen in the cockpit, no keyboard.

so I need to go "downstairs" to append a waypoint.

by the way, its a Panasonic CF-VDW07 - waterproof, connected to pc inside with adhoc-wireless.
If somebody finds this cheap with the old firmware at ebay or so, I have a new firmware and the programm to connect. found that on the canadian panasonic-website some years ago.

A couple of features from other programs...

I'd really like to see a couple of features in OpenCPN which are available on other bits of software:

From SOB... the ability to show animated light sequences when viewing a C-Map vector chart.

and, from the excellent NavMonPC (if only there was as good a free radar-style AIS plotter for Linux)... the ability for OpenCPN to cache AIS vessel IDs and details, so that they are available immediately if the vessel has been encountered before, rather than all that tedious waiting for the vessel detail packet.

Regards,

Mike
