Re: Feature Requests

No, joining routes isn’t a built-in feature right now. You can split one route into two. You can insert a point into a route. You can append a point at the beginning or end of a route.

One thing might not be obvious but way points can be used by more than one route. Also, when you get more comfortable using OpenCPN learn about import and export of routes as well as layers. There is a lot of power there once you understand it all. But it takes a while to get your arms around all the many things O can do. No chart plotter on the market can do all the things O can do. It’s both a blessing and a curse at the same time.

Re: Feature Requests

Thanks for the quick response. I'll look for a work-around to joining two or more routes until it's implemented.

Re: Feature Requests

Will the patch to add NMEA version 2.3 FAA mode fields to RMB and RMC sentences sent to AP be merged into the next version of OpenCPN?

See: http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post2730363

I've been running patched O version 4.99.0, which resolves this issue, successfully since Sept 2018.

gchead...
Yes, the patch you are testing is implemented in OCPN master code and would be included in next official version.

Re: Feature Requests

An what exactly are the meterological displays and how does this differ from Climatology. Is it more real time data?

If to compare with what is now, then added:
- New gradient colors (HSV) with fine pitch
- Added Particles not only for wind
- Gradients are not displayed on land
- grib intuitive bootloader
- Meteogram on the route
- understandable weather icons (clear, overcast, precipitation) in a meteogram

Weather routing flushes the earth and bypasses it.

Thank you Baikal, this is helpful, but perhaps you could make a Tracker item under weather_routing_pi for these improvements and attach screenshot images of what you list?
--Also vote for your Feature Request and get others to do so too.

--Please clarify what "weather routing flushes the earth and bypasses it." meaning?

Thank you.

First -- Really sorry, I'm really late in replying here.

To answer your question, no, I can't use a serial connection from OCPN to my Garmin at the moment as I don't have a proper cable to do so, and I'm not investing any more into my ancient Garmin GPS. But, I still want to be able to use it as a backup, and I want to be able to route plan from home using OpenCPN.

I have to read up on the rest of the replies/comments/etc. and install the latest update to see what other progress was made, and/or if the developer added the extra precision so that the copy/paste and/or printouts have the required level of precision.

Thanks for your ideas and support here! I've been very much enjoying the CruisersForum and the weekly digests since posting!

Re: Feature Requests

Hello all!

I would like to see an alarm when a boat/boats with a certain MMSI number is detected. I.e. if that boat is within AIS/VHF distance. Could be an addition to Options->Ships->MMSI Proprties

I'll give a plus one for mmsi based alarm.

I'd also love to be able to use a twenty buck FlightAware USB Radio to overlay flights on passages in the event I needed to signal for help.

Can you not do that? If not, why not?

Re: Feature Requests

how come we can't have feet as a unit designation for depth on the vector charts?

Re: Feature Requests

And if you go to Options|Display|Units?

Btw.: there is very complete manual integrated into OCPN. try the "?" button from the tool bar.

Are you sure you can't go to the toolbox, and set it on the Display -> Units tab?
