Re: DokuWiki for Opencpn Manual ?

This Publish plugin might be useful once we get transferred. It just tags pages that have been changed and allows the revisions to be accepted. Does not really change how a wiki works.

Re: DokuWiki for Opencpn Manual ?

Dokuwiki backup is quite easy because it is just flat files, no db , just copy it to an inexpensive AWS account https://www.dokuwiki.org/tips:backuptos3 or to your computer https://www.dokuwiki.org/faq:backup

Here is how to move the OpenCPN wiki.
https://www.dokuwiki.org/faq:servermove
Just copy it and paste it in a different server that meets the requirements.

Why not.

I am interested to help you because I has long sought a way to rewrite my website shoreline in order to make it easier to modify and can be adaptable to make it with the help of other French users.

Re: DokuWiki for Opencpn Manual ?

hello RGleason,

I tried with some success to install the latest version of Dokuwiki on my server.

That said, I do not find this very wiki. The only thing that I liked, you can enter text in HTML and thus recover the pages of my old tutorial.

That said, what happens to this project? is it abandoned?

Re: DokuWiki for Opencpn Manual ?

Gilletarom....

Thanks for working with us on this.

The "semi-official" plan is to:

1. migrate the OCPN User Manual to DokuWiki

2. Migrate the opencpn.org website to a new, simpler, flat style. This new style will be mobile responsive as well. This process is underway, with good progress so far. We will be alpha-testing soon.

So, to make this plan work, we need some help in migrating the existing OCPN User Manual to DokuWiki, page-by-page. It is a big job, thanks to the quality and depth of our current manual.

Those who would like to contribute to the effort are encouraged to contact Rick, and dig in.

Sorry the "plan" is a bit soft, but we have had to do some research and experimentation to be sure DokuWiki can work for us. But I think we are ready to shake out the reefs, sheet in, and carry on.

Re: DokuWiki for Opencpn Manual ?

Gilletarom, thank you. Did you download and install Dokuwiki on your own server OR did you log into opencpn [Opencpn Wiki] with the user and pass I gave you by PM?

I am a little confused. Can you log into http://tgp-architects.com/dokuwiki/doku.php

Re: DokuWiki for Opencpn Manual ?

The location for all Media Files with be in the media directory, under the respective namespace
See this reply please https://forum.dokuwiki.org/post/54330Media Folder/Directory for Drupal Migration (Use media/[Namespace] only)

Media Folder/Directory for Drupal Migration
I am inclined to put all the screenshots for each Namespace /Book into one directory folder for simplicity, so

OpenCPN User Manual --> media/opencpn_user_manual
Developer Manual --> media/developer_manual
Supplemental Software --> media/supplemental_software
Supplemental Hardware --> media/supplemental_hardwa

Re: DokuWiki for Opencpn Manual ?

As Dave says, we need 3-4 users to help polish the process for migrating,
So anyone who would like to help, please chime in.

...perhaps even developing a script to make it much easier?

Re: DokuWiki for Opencpn Manual ?

I've uploaded all Opencpn_User_Manual image files (png, jpg, etc) from opencpn.org to the OpenCPN Dokuwiki media directory. The actual directory is

Quote:
..dokuwiki/data/media/opencpn/opencpn_user_manual
The image files will be found under "opencpn/opencpn_user_manual" so
this type of link in Dokuwiki syntax is
Quote:
{{pencpnpencpn_user_manual: [imagefile.png jpg etc]}}

To transfer a page from Opencpn_User_Manual to Dokuwiki

1. Open the same page in Opencpn.org and OpenCPN User Manual [Opencpn Wiki]
2. Get to the Editing page in both opencpn.org and Dokuwiki.
3. In the opencpn.org page Select ALL in the window Ctl+A, Then Copy Ctl+C
4. Then in the Dokuwiki edit page Paste Ctl+V
5. Then change all the image links as noted above.
6. Review the images to make sure they appear properly, check both screens.
7. Review all other links and correct them.
8. Scan the text to see if it appears ok.

That is it. Not too difficult.

Obviously, I was able to connect to your test version of DokuWiki and I could use the login and password that I received.

For cons, I did not want to change anything on your test version of Dokuwiki.

As for me, I has long sought a solution to make the French version of shoreline more convenient. So I downloaded Dokuwki. Then I tried to install it on my PC using the local server WampServer. It did not work.
So I exported Dokuwiki on Shoreline server. The I managed.
That said, not everything is perfect. I have to develop a template and that takes work. I'm not sure I get there.

I also tested another wiki, easier to install and configure. But it is just to see what I can achieve.

Re: DokuWiki for Opencpn Manual ?

Gilletarom, What you've done is good.

For your French Wiki, if you can follow this thread on the Dokuwiki forum, you will be able to configure your French version to be similar to the english version by installing several plugins (I am trying to keep it to a bare minimum of extra plugins) and then setting up the Indexmenu plugin.

These are the critical threads so far:
1. Druple 6 [Book] migrating to Dokuwiki Questions
2. Media Folder/Directory for Drupal Migration
3. Customize Sidebar - Namespace sorting issue
4. Indexmenu Github - Use of nsort to sort namespaces & pages together interleaved

Hope this helps.

When we get the Ocpn English wiki moved, perhaps we can set Dokuwiki for easier language translations using Crowdsource, similar to the plugins? I have listed previously in this thread, the enablers for that to happen.

Re: DokuWiki for Opencpn Manual ?

Version: Release 2016-06-26a "Elenor of Tsort"
Template: Dokuwiki Template by Anika Henke (default template for Elenor of Tsort)
Plugin Extensions Added:
IndexMenu https://www.dokuwiki.org/plugin:indexmenu
Captcha https://www.dokuwiki.org/plugin:captcha
Ckgedit https://www.dokuwiki.org/plugin:ckgedit
Gallery https://www.dokuwiki.org/plugin:gallery (not using yet)
Nav Overlay https://www.dokuwiki.org/pluginverlay (not using yet)
Site Export https://www.dokuwiki.org/plugin:siteexport (tried doesn't work, may remove soon, bdbcat is developing a script)
Translation https://www.dokuwiki.org/plugin:translation (not using yet)
Upgrade https://www.dokuwiki.org/plugin:upgrade (Yes, this is being used, helps to upgrade plugins)
Wrap https://www.dokuwiki.org/plugin:wrap (I don't believe we are using this yet either)

The main ones so far are Indexmenu, Ckgedit, & Captcha

Then you will have to learn how to use indexmenu to get the navigation so it works.
See the forum threads above for that and also look at our Opencpn Dokuwiki > Admin > Configuration Settings which need to be adjusted a little.
----
When we get the Ocpn English wiki moved, perhaps we can set Dokuwiki up for easier language translations similar to the way DokuWiki does translations, see the selection in this page on the left.
https://www.dokuwiki.org/install
Maybe even use Crowdsource like the plugins?

Next Steps in the Migration
https://forum.dokuwiki.org/post/54392

Dave has asked if we can get this moved over to the new wiki, full steam ahead.

We need Volunteers now.Gilletarom, here is the French translation of the Install page, for example.
https://www.dokuwiki.org/start?id=fr:install
-Pretty nice.

Dokuwiki Syntax
https://www.dokuwiki.org/wiki:syntax
Also https://www.dokuwiki.org/toolbar

We also have CKGedit Syntax (html) which is the same editor used by the old Drupal website.

Re: DokuWiki for Opencpn Manual ?

We have a lot of empty pages that have been created to duplicate the current User Manual. We need Editors to help transfer the pages!
