Converting MaxSea .wpt Routes to GPX

I have had mixed success converting my catalog of Maxsea routes, made by me or by others, to the gpx format used by openCPN.

I have tried GPSBabel with little success. I can't seem to create a visible route. It keeps telling me it doesn't recognize routes from my wpt files, only waypoints.

With the free version of GPS Utility, I've converted a few shorter ones, but have only managed to create series of arrows without the waypoints indentified on the route. I'm clearly doing something wrong, but hours pouring over their online manual has left me little wiser.

Is there a simpler utility for such conversion that is more suited to Luddites such as myself?

Hi jimbim!

GPX uses just simple XML files for the routes, tracks and waypoints (see: GPS eXchange Format - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia).

I don't know the other programs you mentioned. So it would be helpful if you could post some (short - about 5 WP) demo files (just add .doc as filetype to the files for uploading them here in the forum).

It should be possible to convert them so that they are usable with OCPN.

Thanks for the offer of help, Gunther.
Have tried a couple times to upload some examples, but I keep losing the wifi signal where I am and uploads just stall. Will keep trying, but may have to move.
