Connections Set Up!

I have issues with RTLSDR and AISMon on 2xW10 and 1xW7 computers where the monitoring will NOT start. The RTLSDR frequencies are working to produce strong signals - I live on the banks of the Firth of Forth with plenty of vessels!

AisMon is set to UDP: 127.0.0.1:10110, but when I come to OpenCPN and select the same UDP configuration I see this:

Any assistance will be most welcome.

Thanks

Martin

Re: Connections Set Up!

Your screen shot on OpenCPN shows the UDP connection as 0.0.0.0

Re: Connections Set Up!

That is not the link for this question. My question is aimed at that there is no way I can enter any information, the right hand side you will see is blank - all grey!

Thanks, Martin

If that's not the right link why post one that doesn't show what you're talking about?

TBH I think you'll have to be a lot more specific about the problem you're having difficulties with!

The specifics is what is missing from the picture, not what is there. I cannot change the picture, as the information on there is being used.

There is not any opportunity to add UDP information to make a connection. That is the problem.

Have you tried scrolling right? The connections page irritatingly is almost always much wider than the window and needs lots of scrolling back and forth.

Re: Connections Set Up!

Interesting answer: On W10 machines it is only scrolling up and down. There is no scrolling left and right. It is these machines that I use on my deliveries.

The screen shot is from W7 and a 23" screen, the UDP entry is way down the other end!

Yes it is there and not compact as the W10!

OK to continue, the AISMon does not start monitoring and there is a very strong signal from the RTLSDR. I use a V Cable etc. Also on one of the W10 machines I get Error 13 Type Mismatch!

Any ideas, please?

Thanks,
Martin

You should have said so in the first place. What you said instead was that you used the same settings in OpenCPN as in AisMon.

I cannot see the problem. Adding a UDP connection is pretty straightforward. I was able to so without any problems. Make sure you select the radio buttons appropriate to your setup. The UI changes according to the buttons selected. Use the address recommended by AisMon.

OTOH, it would be easier to use a Quark, or dAISy. They are cheap but reliable. SDR, while functional, is not approved for navigation. They say so in the RTL-SDR documentation.

Fair winds.

Re: Connections Set Up!

Hi, the issue had been answered as there are differences between W7 and W10, where I had to scroll to the left.

There are two other issues about AISMon I seek answers as I asked.

They are not used as primary navigation, but to see ais up on OpenCPN and vtqlm.
