USB3 ports are downward compatible with USB2 devices - so this is no issue.

As which COM port does the GPS pop up?
Do you know the baud rate - 4800, 9600, .... ? -> docs of the GPS mouse.

Remember that just one device at a time can be connected to a COM port.

Re: conecting gps (usb) with open cpn (windows 8)

I am not sure on hoe to adjust the gps rate but i adjusted the open cpn to 4800 couse thats what i red you should do somewere.

The thing with the com ports is that as i connect the gps to the diffrent usb ports, i can sea on the propertis of the sensor that it changes between 1,2,3 and 4 but when i go to the connectiong on the open cpn and try to add connection then i can only choose between 6,7,8 and another one that starts whith garmin. So obviasly i cannot choose the right comport as it is not an option..

Re: conecting gps (usb) with open cpn (windows 8)

Your OCPN is an actual one? 4.xx?

In Windows to check the COM port of a device right click in the lower left corner and select system/device manager (or whatever your local language tells you)

You will see there COM ports (Serial ports). Take note which port your GPS mouse gets when plugged in. Plugging into different physical ports might result in different logical COM ports. When having identified the COM port for your GPS mouse use this one at OCPN.
OCPN will show available ports in the drop down list of COM ports under connections anyhow.
Use the NMEA debug window to check if you have a working¡g connection.

Re: conecting gps (usb) with open cpn (windows 8)

My open spn is 3.2.2

I told you i cannot choose the correct comport from the list on open cpn as it only lets me choose between 3 options: com 6 or come 7 or com 8 an the gps sensor can only be connected to ports come 1-4. In some way i am fealing that ports 6-8 dont really exist

Re: conecting gps (usb) with open cpn (windows 8)

Upgrade to 4.0.0 first.

A lot of improvements with respect to 3.2, especially in relation with communications. Don't waste your time with that old stuff please
