COG Predictor options

First, I love my newly installed OpenCPN, thanks to all contributors.

My previous plotting software had an infinite COG predictor line which I got used to and liked. But If I set O's COG line to (nearly) infinite, I don't see a six minute mark to match to the AIS target six minute marks. If I set my ship's COG Predictor to six minutes, I then lose my infinite course predictor. Is there a way to set it to see both an infinite line AND a six minute dot? Or do most people just get used to cruising without the infinite predictor line?

A related question is that there seem to be both a Heading Predictor line and a COG Predictor line regardless of how I set the distances, and as I have no heading sensor, they are always the same which seems unnecessary and detracts from the resolution detail a bit, altho I can live with it.

Thanks again

Re: COG Predictor options

BTW, it would seem that setting the COG Predictor Length to 6, and setting the Heading Predictor length to 600 would solve my problem, but for some reason that does not seem to work. The Heading Predictor is never longer than the COG Predictor line. (I know I'm missing something obvious.)

Re: COG Predictor options

The plots plugin includes an additional predictor with more configuration options.

Thanks, that may work altho it's way more than I need. But now it occurs to me that maybe I could set up my COG predictor as infninte and then set up a range ring at 1 nm. That way the intersection of the range ring and the COG line should be where the boat will be in 6 minutes. Unfortunately I can't test this without going to the boat as my home desktop setup doesn't move a lot. )
