Closing Opencpn via command line on linux

Hi, I use raspberry pi running openplotter, often from a tablet.
So to shutdown the Pi, rather than use VNC with fat cold fingers I have a button on node-red programmed to send this to the command line (found on google):

killall -s TERM opencpn
(then delay 5 seconds)
sudo shutdown -h now

Seems to work OK, but anyone know if there's a "nicer" way to close opencpn using the command line?
It seems to save tracks and the logbook data OK but seems a bit heavy handed - is there a better command line option?

Thanks

You can always try to send SIGHUP instead of the default SIGTERM. I believe that is the signal sent when pressing the "x" to close a GUI window. It may be more graceful, but I don't know if it really matters.

Re: Closing Opencpn via command line on linux

Should anyone be interested....

Quick look at the opencpn.log file and it seems like using the exit opencpn menu button has exactly the same result as "killall -s TERM opencpn " on the command line so think all is good.
Node red on the Pi is GREAT!
