Re: Climatology

Can you find data on where every EPIRBS went off, and stuff like time to response etc..? Ship distress etc... might help avoid "bermuda triangles"

Re: Climatology

Sean, I'll try to find that. Anyone else have some sources?

What follows are some screenshots of Sean's plugins with the following routings and data sources for Linux first then Windows. Very powerful tool.
1. Linux Climatology June and Weather_routing -Nassau-Newport with current.
2. Linux Grib 4days and Grib 4days, Weather_routing-Nassau-Newport with current.
3. Windows Climatology June and Weather_routing -Nassau-Newport with current.
4. Windows Grib 4days Climatology 4days and Weather_routing-Nassau-Newport with current.
#2 and #4 use Grib Wind data for the first 4 days and Climatology wind for the last 4 days.
#2 and #4 use Climatology currents for the entire 8 day trip.

Note about the Isobar functions: These are not working very well so they have been disabled. Sean intends to replace this code with the similar function from WMM plugin which has been optimized and runs smoother and better.

The cyclones don't seem to be working in Windows yet, and some data is not fully implemented such as air temp which is not essential. These plugins are now excellent tools for routing.

Please note that Sean has just added two more functions "Batch" which determines the best timing for weather windows and routing. And "Route" which I have not tried, so I will not say what it does yet. This is becoming a very robust tool at a fast pace!

Thank you Sean!

Hopefully soon the files will be uploaded for windows along with the new data files.

Re: Climatology

Hi,

Plugin is very nice I like it. I found some strange values of sea temp near the equator on Atlantic Ocean. I had values from -2.6 C up to 30 C it looks really strange.

I think your data is corrupted somehow because I do not see this. Does anyone else?

I fixed a minor issue with cyclones so hopefully there are no more asserts.

Are there any serious issues? I would like to release for general use very soon.

Re: Climatology

Sean, should I do a git clone? Did you have a chance to fix the isobar build hangup in Windows that was be-deviling us? You had greyed out the isobar checkbox because of it.

Re: Climatology

Hi,

I downloaded the climatology data again, I installed OpenCPN 3.3.604 on different laptop and the result is the same.
I checked md5sum for "C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenCPN 3.3.604\plugins\climatology\data\seasurfacetempera ture.gz" is 2823ffe0edbce95a99ad30ea671b009a. Could you verify that value.
Maybe this is a problem with regional settings on my windows.
From other hand, why sea temp is wrong displayed but air temp without any issue.

I attached screenshots:

Re: Climatology

Kubek, where did you download the data from?
Pavel may not have updated Sourceforge data yet.
Try the data in this location.

http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...ml#post1243365

Go into Climate-Data-2 directory and download the CL-DATA2.zip 6.91mb dated 5/23/13

Re: Climatology

Hi,

I do that but the result is the same. md5sum of the file from "Climate-Data-2 directory and download the CL-DATA2.zip 6.91mb dated 5/23/13" is the same 2823ffe0edbce95a99ad30ea671b009a. Previously I got it from the same site but from "Home /Plugins-Beta-Opencpn-3.2/climatology/data"

Could you verify md5sum of the file "...\OpenCPN\plugins\climatology\data\seasurfacete mperature.gz" to be completly sure that source date is OK, Maybe it is some issue with regional settings or somewhere else.

Kubek.

Re: Climatology

Sorry but "md5sum" is not something I know about I know CRC. DB095D96 for seasurfacetemperature.gz

Try going back and downloading it. The data under Plugins-Beta-Opencpn-3.2/climatology/data/CL-data.zip should be the same as under climate-data-2 directory.

Re: Climatology

I've tried seasurface.gz in Windows Climatology plugin and I get a similar image. It appears the chart land masses do not show, and I can not find a place to adjust transparency. The chart seems to have to same spotty color rendering, don't know if this is right. I also find that in Config, changing from Celcius to Farenheight does not change the values. There appear to be some bugs here.

Maybe we should be checking all the data values for proper display of unit settings?

Re: Climatology

This is a bit of a pain, the new Opencpn 3.3.604 Version seems to have broken the Climatology plugin. When you start the plugin when in MSVC Debug by clicking on Climatorlogy icon, the database starts building (progress bar appears) and there are many date errors that appear. See attached, png and the doc with call stack info that does not appear to be very helpful, image error lines are not appearing in the call stack(???)

I have NOT done a recent Git clone for Climatology, so I know this plugin code compiled fine in the earlier version of Windows MSVC. Have no idea what was done in Opencpn 3.3.604 to break Climatology plugin.
