Chartwork Plugin
I downloaded the suggested files for this plug in.
Now what do I need to do to merge with open cpn ?
How is the gpx generated?
Thanx in advance for your help.....

There is no such plugin available. Chart Work is an independent program, that you run on it's own.

Its not very straightforward. I assume you are on about GPX Chartwork, for example, with the Bearing calculation, you need to enter the Lat/Long of the object you are taking a bearing of, then enter the bearing and click on the GPX button. This creates a GPX file, which you then need to import into CPN, this will then display the bearing line on the electronic chart. Not a quick fix.

I guess I misinterpreted the information. Assumed they were plugins...ooops!
I did use the stand alone programs, cute, but not efficient. I'll continue to set 2 or more one line routes and use these. Faster and easier.
Thank you all for your responses

Re: Chartwork Plugin
I seem to be at same place as this thread, and an earlier one. Am i rtying to use the correct tool here?
I have tried but failed to use extended marks to make the following pilotage notes.
Reach a WP, from which X lighthouse bears 220def True, from here head 020deg True towards highest point of Island. Turn due north as you approach the shore.. etc
I want to add bearnings from the firt waypoint. At this stage I don;t know ehere the bear off to Due North will be. It seems chart Work could do this.
How tO I get chart work to use that part of the chart for me to do the lines etc? I came across Software on Board which has a similar function.
Any reference on how to create own icons would be appreciated (ie. how to create the xom file. I tried xnview but the file seems not to be recognised.

Re: Chartwork Plugin
idris dragon..
To make icons, try searching for suitable icons with Google and do the transparency conversion etc. with Gimp 2 a free graphic program.
To start you off, here is a file of .xpm UserIcons I use.

Re: Chartwork Plugin
idrisdragon...not sure if I get you but try the chart pencil?..It can lay off any line you like...play with it then hit Esc key when done.
It only really becomes a "Route" when you activate it. Otherwise it's always just been a pencil, as far as I'm concerned...
Marks and Routes | Official OpenCPN Homepage
You can edit in the route manager. and also a right click on any marks (choose waypoint properties)allows renaming, extra info, moving the mark and so on.
also,
http://opencpn.org/ocpn/user_icons
and there's a thread here about icons too.

thanks Sinbad7. Useful - ironically I had used GIMP to produce the kap charts and did not think of it for these files. I want to use an icon of an extract of a worksheet showing currents and so on through a sound - I can't seem to get good current data for the area (it would be great if I could manually put tidal diamond information into the current data base)
Tried your files and saved to userincons, but the mark doesn't pick them up as available. Must be doing something wrong. Thanks again.

i played with the pencil but gave up, as when the esc is pressed the line disappears, as it does with measure remove). Is there a way to draw it and then leave it in place? I think that would be what I am looking for. (although I can't repeat the details in the manual for extended marks (ie with the square boxes and so on).
again, thanks

Check at the bottom page of OCPN help to see where your .ini files are located and make a new sub-directory called UserIcons and put the icons there.
To make a small icon from a worksheet will not be readable, and you want to make a sound? There is already a small 'sound' icon in the file you downloaded.

with the mouse...left-click, (move mouse) left click because the line needs an end,(movemouse)left click (move mouse)etc. That really should work.
ESC key when you're finished. You will see the bearing and length too as you are moving the mouse...
