Charts for Mexico?

Hi All,

Where do I download usable charts for Mexico? West coast/Baja, Sea of Cortez up to La Paz and also over to Punta Mita area if possible.

Thanks!

Re: Charts for Mexico?

NOAA doesn't appear to have charts available for South of Endensada. Perhaps I'm missing something?

I'm looking for Raster charts comptabible with OpenCPN.

Re: Charts for Mexico?

I have never found "free" charts of Mexico, like the US NOAA ENC/RNC charts.

Re: Charts for Mexico?

Also, what I've done is use GE2KAP or VentureFarther to make satellite charts for the popular cruising locations. Many of the Mexico charts are off by several miles (e.g., Isla Isabela). Google Earth overlays help identify land locations. Be careful navigating with satellite charts - they don't have depth or aids to navigation.

Thanks Don. I guess'll stick with the paper charts I used the last time around.

Re: Charts for Mexico?

You have as well the official charts in S-63 format - not free of charge.
Coverage on the screenshot.

Bruce,
Thanks for posting this! I've added you to our list of satellite chart sources on our website!

Someone was just asking on the OpenCPN Users Facebook Group where they could find charts for Mexico. I did a little googling and ended up here.

Good luck and Happy New Year!

Sherry

For Bcn's ArcGis you need to have an account. They do have a free trial.

The ArcGis link is from the IHO web site. One can use it "as is" directly without any account.

That is nice to know, however for me it does not work. Maybe something to do with my Norton security software or the internet.

Later: No, it is not Norton Security, tried with AV and Firewall off.

Item does not exist or is inaccessible.

This might help
