GE Capture

I agree FX +screengrabber is fast and easy but the advantage of the tile route is that you can zoom into the created kap chart right down to the highest level possible in GE. The tile + combine process took about 4 minutes

regards

OK,I see.. well I guess I'll have to get the full version to zoom higher than 12 which comes with the trial version and is not so impressive. Thanks anyway.

Hi. help required if I may. I purchased an old laptop. OS wind 98. I have on the laptop C-maps. which is fine. I purchased a GPS dongle from Maplin. this has software with it to confrim the GPS is working on the old laptop. and it is. when I open the c-maps, there is a "Input" sign which lights red then goes out. when trying to set up cmaps, it ask for the GPS to be plugged into Communication port. I cant run the GPS from Comms port because no supply to the GPS. I need to tell the C-maps to look at USB..(I Think)........any ideas...........please regards

did you restart after testing with your software, otherwise your software is blocking the port for other software (opencpn). and your comport should exist virtually by an usb to com-software provided normally with your gps.

by the way , I don't think win98 is supported by opencpn.
Version 1.36 was supported by win98 but since version 2 you need at least win2000 or xp !

Hi, Thank you for the quick response. after checking GPS is working, re-boot, with GPS in the USB. the mapping still wants "use communication port" . I am unable to adjust which port for it to look at. I have noticed that my Cmaps is Russian. "opencpn" not sure what this means, (sorry I am bit slow) regards

r.fairman.. re my#934

I purchased the package and it looks real good. I have also asked them if it is possible to make a special version which can do the same for charts displayed in OpenCPN.

CM93 v2 COMPATABILITY WITH FUGAWI ENC.

Does anybody know whether CM93 v2 can be imported into Fugawi ENC?

My first effort combining a LARGE overlay chart in .gif format with a LARGE capture from GE using 'Google Satellite Map Retriever'.

To make matters more interesting I captured the LARGE overlay chart from within Fugawi ENC using 'Snagit9',prepared and converted with 'GIMP2'

The map is of course much larger than displayed, have a look:

Peter..

Being a frequent Lindesnes visitor you will appreciate this large GE bitmap which we can convert to .kap. lindesnes.jpg - 4shared.com - photo sharing - download image

Using Google Satellite Map Retriever..

Hi Peter..

To have ALL of Norway's GE photos you should buy Google Satellite Map Retriever at only $29.95. A very good investment and easy to use.

Fugawi does not support CM93 v2 presently. The overlay was taken from a standard .kap chart as a demo.

I wish someone would find a way to capture large areas from CM93.

Peter..

GE have very poor coverage over most of the Northern part of Norway.
I suggest you calibrate/convert your own charts to .kap from the FREE map service provided by Norway's Yellow Pages. I quickly made one up today, download here:
