Chart viewer management tool

I now have a lot of charts, some I have converted myself and others I have been given. They are primarily .BSB and .KAP files.

I am having some difficulty managing and indexing these as the only way I have found to view them is actually within OpenCPN.

Is there a simple viewer capable of quickly displaying these file types? Something like XnView. It would then be a simple exercise to move them into folders for particular areas.

An extension within Options>Charts to allow simplified view of a chart before adding it would be very slick.

This problem was discussed quite a lot a few years back.

For my own needs I use a utility that I call "kapview". It's just a simple shell script using imgkap and whatever program you have installed for picture viewing.

#!/bin/sh

imgkap "$1" tmp.png
gwenview tmp.png
unlink tmp.png

Put the script somewhere in your PATH and make it executable.
Just click on the kapfile you would like to view......
This example is Linux, but the idea should be possible to implement on any system.
