Yes, it works. but it is impractical. Mixing a problem in windows with problems in OpenCPN.

I'm not saying that is the solution. I am just trying to find out if you see the same result as I see. The problem is not in OpenCPN. It is in the default dialog box logic which we did not write.

I don't understand why it is "impractical". The check box in Preferences turns on the Update All button. Apparently turning off this button confuses the dialog box so that it thinks it is smaller than it really is. If the Update All button is turned on then everything works as it should. This has nothing to do with Windows or OpenCPN.

Dan I noticed that same small problem to but did not mention it. Is it possible to git and compile? I can do that tomorrow morn.

Rick,

The solution is simple. In Wx form builder find the "Update All" button. Make this button invisible and disabled. Then regenerate the GUI and rebuild the plugin. That will fix this bug.

I hardly managed to download your latest version. This was not easy because I do not currently good internet access. But it's done.

This version works correctly. Translations of some items are poor, but for a test, it does not matter. They will be improved as soon as the items are in place in the crowdin.

Now I can have access to all the buttons and slider working properly.

Version 0.9 aka the Release Candidate is now available
Changes since 0.8:

• Improved performance (thanks Dan)
• Improved reliability of downloads (thanks Dan)
• The documentation is updated and bundled with the plugin
• Information about chart updates is now stored locally instead on solely depending on file modification dates to resolve some corner cases with "not very consistent" chart sources and improve handling of re-released ENC cells
• Several catalogs at Nautical Chart Catalogs were updated with the latest available charts (Brasil, Netherland, Poland...)
• Updated translations
• The GUI was adjusted to look and work better on low resolution screens

Get the setup packages for Windows from Download opencpnplugins from SourceForge.net and Mac OS X from Download opencpnplugins from SourceForge.net
On Linux the package opencpn-plugin-chartdldr is available in the beta PPA at https://launchpad.net/~nohal/+archive/ubuntu/opencpn

In case no serious bugs are found, this version will be released unchanged as 1.0

Nobody seems crying, so the stable 1.0 release is now officially out at PlugIns | Official OpenCPN Homepage
Changes since 0.9:

• Improved logic while storing the local chart information to make it more robust (Fixes some Brasilian charts appearing as new even though they are installed)
• Updated translation
• Fixes for some potential bugs revealed by statical code analysis
• Fixed chart number comparison case sensitivity

Hello Pavel

Last night I tried to download the version 0.9. Can not install the plugin. Corrupted file.

So I have not had time to test version 0.9.

So I cry, I weep I scream ... As you asked!

This morning I installed the stable version 1.0. Operating properly.

But I wanted to correct an item from the final version. There was a spelling mistake. I did this morning in the crowdin.

If you have time to spare, please, replace the French language file in the final version.

Today I installed from the PPA on Linux Mint (Rebecca). All went well with no errors. My charts are updating now through very slow connection. It seems to be going well.

Pavel gives too much credit to others. He did 99.6% of the heavy lifting on this project.

I urge all OpenCPNers to get this plugin. It is amazing how often charts are updated. In the US it ranges from 50-200 charts updated every week. Other countries less often but still frequent. You may also be amazed at the large parts of the world where free charts are available. They are easily downloaded and kept current with this plugin.

Thanks for making this plugin. Its pretty extraordinary to think how many different website download problems were solved by Pavel and Dan to simplify the installation and update of free ENC and RNC charts for all of us.

Suggestion: Have a good connection and install each Chart catalog that you want and then download the chart files first, before enabling the "Update All" button! -It is a pretty intensive download situation so take it slowly and one catalog at a time the first time around.

As Dan said, it is surprising how often charts get updated, so this plugin will be a great assistant with updates.

Using downloaded Win Opencpn v4.0 with the ChartDownloader v1.0 I've tested
as follows:
- USCG01,05,07 both ENC and RNC
- All other non- US catalogs
Both individually and with the "Update All" several times to complete. (I needed to skip the German Inland charts about 17 times as they would keep coming up, should be expected because this is manual.)

The two Netherland_Inland catalog files seem to time out, but the website might be updating and unavailable.

The German_Inland the catalog updated but about 8 of the manually downloaded from automatic links ended in error (I will send this list separately). Also 3 others started download but were timed out for some reason.

I tried all these problem German files all several or 3x's and only one more (of the 3) came down. It seems to be something with the website as my internet was fine.

Everything else worked very well.
