How is this any different to creating a new catalog? When you create a new catalog the files are missing as well. We can't complain about that else no one could ever download charts. We should not have to remember if this particular catalog has been used before or not. I think what you are asking the program to do is beyond its requirement. If I don't understand please post screen shots of each step you did so I can understand better why this is a problem.

The user is made aware. They see that the catalog is empty. If they chose to download the catalog again then they see that all the charts will be downloaded anew. We can't stop them from doing that.

No, you have not undestand the problem that I speak.

Please carefully look at my screenshots. And ask yourself, "Why does the name of calog has changed in the last screenshot?" And you will see that there is a display anomaly. See the third catalog in my list of catalog. Compare with another screenshot.

Ok, I found the cause of this and sent Pavel a message how to fix it. The reason is the catalog file URL is not a valid catalog file. Therefore, the most recent good catalog was used to populate the catalog description. Since the catalog just before this one was valid we mistakenly copied the title and dates from that catalog.

Hi all...
Time for another beta release, which hopefully fixes the problems reported with 0.6 (thanks Dan) and brings an improved GUI for addition of new chart sources (thanks J-E) and additional supported chart sources (Argentina*, New Zealand and IENCs of French rivers)

Ubuntu packages are ready in the beta PPA (just update your machine or, if you don't have the plugin yet, install package opencpn-plugin-chartdldr)
The installers for Windows and Mac are available fro download from the usual location.



*) A note about Argentinian charts: Los Che receive 100 bonus points for packaging most of their official charts using RAR and renaming the files to .ZIP to make the potential user as confused as possible The plugin so far can't decompress RAR, so after it downloads and renames the files to minimize the confusion, you unfortunately have to decompress them using whatever tools you have available on your platform (unrar, WinRAR, 7-zip...)

This is really nice!
Windows installer works fine (XP) and the charts installation procedure is very smooth.
And thanks also for some new French charts I didn't cached before. (Although France is somewhat restrictive in what's published of all their canals. Hopefully there will come more.)

Bravo for the development of the plugin. The visual aspect becomes enjoyable. Downloads charts succeed.

Just an idea :
I downloaded with a good web connection, the French IENC charts.
File # 8 is a large 109 MB file and it follows another fairly important file.
In between, the decompression phase one hand, and the time that the French server responds mean the user may think that everything is over while still two files (9 and 10) to download.
Posting a message such as "Have patience" during these times might be a good thing.

Hmm .... It is a question of funding. If you could give some coins to the French Service (VNF), probably it would go quicker.

Have tried "Add" Catalog" and download of all 5 "Chartcatalogs" Argentina, Brasil, Czech, France and New Zeland. They all work fine. NZ unpacked itself and Argentina needed me to use Jzip to "Extract to here"

I wonder if it would be possible to include jzip and call it? Perhaps that is a little complicated.

Nevertheless this plugin is working beautifully now, I think. There are perhaps other catalogs that can be added over time, but it is very useful now.

I really like the expand/contract catalog formating now, along with all the catalogs for US being included. This is an excellent package that will assist new and older users alike.

BSB/ENC World Chart Set
After seeing the coverage of NZ large charts, Brazil large charts, US large charts I wonder why we cannot put together a large scale world set of BSB or ENC that would serve as a start? Sort of a beginning worldwide set for new users. Then they can add detail from various sources. We would need coverage for the Mediterranean, Southern Atlantic and Indian Ocean plus some others, but quite a lot is already covered.

Unfortunately the Chilean S63 charts are not free. The links leads to updates that are free, but useless, without first buying the charts.

The few files I looked at are just updates (The base cell, CLxxxxxx.000 is not there)
I suppose you need to buy the S-63 cells first to make use of the update service.
