I suppose that inland waterways are marked in statute miles (or U.S. survey miles?) in the US, but neither https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/River_mile nor USGS River Mile explicitly states it...
If you want to make sure, get one of those charts and measure it

Re: Chart Downloader/Updater Plugin

Pavel, I will adjust the wiki to explain "Predefined" more completely, including that once downloaded, it becomes user's domain, and changes to "custom" so they are permitted to change it. I don't know why they would want to create such confusion for themselves by changing it, if they have accepted "Predefined", but operation is fine with me for flexibility.

The description will come with a warning that the user should be familiar with what they are doing. However they can Add a new Catalog and start over if things go awry.

The difference between "status mile" and "land mile" is not a problem here. It is negligible

But when I look at wikipedia, French version, the nightmare is in the spelling in French, the word "mile", ie with "l" or "ll". For spelling, I'll manage.

Furthermore, I understand that the term "river miles" is a typical American expression that can not be translated into French. I imagine it's the same in most other languages.

So I completely changed the structure of the item. I wrote "Rivière %s (de %s à %s) . Du point %3.1f au point %3.1f (en miles terrestre)"

The structure is different but perfectly understandable by my countrymen.

Thank you for having the patience to answer me.

Re: Chart Downloader/Updater Plugin

Hello,

Allows me to describe what is called in France a case study.

February 4, 2015, you:
- created a link to the catalog of Brazil,
- downloaded the "RNC charts" of Brazil in a folder whose path is in the link (Column "local path")
Féfrier 5, 2015, you move or you rename the folder in which you had stored the charts.
February 6, 2016, you :
- want to update your charts in Brazil
- open the complement tab
- select the link to the catalog of Brazil

But the link does not contain the correct path to the local folder ....

Should be checked when selecting an already present link, that the path to the local folder still exists.

Re: Chart Downloader/Updater Plugin

And if the new location is under your "Charts" perhaps it should search for it?

Re: Chart Downloader/Updater Plugin

Hello Pavel,

I faced yesterday and today in two unexplained crash with version 0.6. From memory, I had already met similar crash with 0.5.

In both cases, it is when the window containing a list of links to predefined catalogs was open. It also seems that it was when I moved the mouse over the list.

The CrashReport are too big, even under a zip format. I placed the two crashreports in a web page. Just follow this link:
T?l?chargement automatis? de cartes marines

This link will be deleted as soon as you've downloaded, no later than February 7.

I think it did check and informed you no chart catalog was found and that you must update the catalog. If that is not what happened tell us what actually happened.

No, I don't think it should do that. We can't read the minds of people or guess where the charts might have went.

I have not said that we should go in search of the new location of the folder or its new name.
I only said that it was necessary to test whether the local path was still correct.

After that,
- If it is correct, go quietly
- If it is not correct, display a message to alert the user to change the local path if desired.

I think it does check and tell you the catalog has gone missing. Please tell me exactly what happened and I will try to reproduce it here.

After downloading the charts RNC Brazil with the plugin, I deliberately moved the complete folder of the RNC charts. But I did not change the local path in the link to the catalog (Third column of the line)
Then I again clicked on "Update" (Update). The software should have warned me that the path to the storage folder was broken. What he did not.

You can experience it yourself to see how things happen.

Re: Chart Downloader/Updater Plugin

Did it not show that no charts were there and require you to download a new chart catalog?

How is this any different to creating a new catalog? When you create a new catalog the files are missing as well. We can't complain about that else no one could ever download charts. We should not have to remember if this particular catalog has been used before or not. I think what you are asking the program to do is beyond its requirement. If I don't understand please post screen shots of each step you did so I can understand better why this is a problem.
