kap2vrt.2.py is not "in your PATH".

You have the kap2vrt.2.py file correct? You need to either have kap2vrt.2.py in the current directory you are running the command from. Or copy the file to a directory in you PATH. I would copy it to the same directory where gdal2tiles.py lives.

Will thank you very much, you actually prompted me to again remove all versions of OSGEO and do a fresh install, I am happy now since that cured the ordinal 32 not found error and I can do all of this via command line now....

But...this is weird I have windows 7 and when I enter the command kap2vrt.2.py --cut 11405_1.KAP in the command window, it opens the kap2vrt.2.py in Notepad!......

Am I entering the command wrong? I have tried everything to try and get it to stop doing that, I even went into my registry to the file extensions for windows explorer and deleted the keys for the .py extension that even mentioned notepad.

I finally got things squared away with the .py scripts opening in notepad.

I also discovered that I needed to build a batch file to run the .py scripts so I built one to run the kap2vrt.2.py script and called it kap2vrt, but when I ran the script it gave me this error:

Code:

C:\charts\Rastor\11405>kap2vrt --cut 11405_1.kap
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "C:\OSGeo4W\apps\gdal-16\bin\kap2vrt.2.py", line 123, in <module>
    kap2vrt(f)
  File "C:\OSGeo4W\apps\gdal-16\bin\kap2vrt.2.py", line 91, in kap2vrt
    gcps=flatten([('-gcp', `i[0][1]`,`i[0][2]`,i[1][0],i[1][1]) for i in izip(re
fs, refs_merc)])
  File "C:\OSGeo4W\apps\gdal-16\bin\kap2vrt.2.py", line 22, in flatten
    return list(chain.from_iterable(listOfLists))
AttributeError: type object 'itertools.chain' has no attribute 'from_iterable'
Just for the heck of it I tried the bsb2gdal.py, built a batch file and got it to work, not sure why kap2vrt would not work.......

Hi alaska_av8r! Sorry I didn't followed this thread closely, but I see you've already posted at the talk.maemo.org.

In the essence kap2vrt is ancient. Use bsb2gdal, etc from talk.maemo.org.

Cheers

Re: Chart Converter Recruitment

This looks good. I've no programming skills to speak of but I've managed to plot my position using a GPS dongle via Bluetooth and Navigator. Then I scanned a few charts and pinned them as overlays onto Google Earth. I haven't made any long passages using this yet but so far it looks like a goer. Then I found GRIB files for wind and tidal streams and I'm itching to get them plotted. Just need to convert GRIBs to .kml and I'd be a very happy bunny! And the routing programs are awesome.
