This is great stuff. When a beta version is ready, I will help to check it.

Re: celestial navigation plugin redux

I think I'm ready to say this plugin is available for general use.

Of course there is plenty of features that could be added, I just want to fix any serious problems anyone may have if there are any.

Re: celestial navigation plugin redux

Sean, I was getting a break when I tried entering the second fix, did you see that?

Re: celestial navigation plugin redux

Well, I think I owe you an apology Sean. The breaks went away after awhile by clicking through them, stop, then continue. I took screen shots and call stack attached below. I managed to get a number of fixes that show up on the screen, but it seemed link each successive fix replaced the last one on the screen in the list. Where did the first fixes go? Deneb replaces Sun, then XXX replaces Deneb, etc. I can't delete the first ones because they are no longer listed. However I can just delete them all. Maybe I am not using it right?

Anyway I've attached a compiled release DLL for others to test at the end. I am sorry Sean I should have done this before, my apologies. ...so many plugins, you are prolific.

Re: celestial navigation plugin redux

The screenshots are very revealing. The sights are displayed on the chart, but are not in the list control.. this is a certain bug. I have never seen this. I'll have to do some more probing.. I really don't like the list control much.

As for the logs... Unfortunately the plugin must be release mode since it gives me no line numbers. Could you get the same logs again in debug mode?

Re: celestial navigation plugin redux

Ok, rebuilt, closed MSVC, copied build/plugin/celestial_pi/Debug/ celestial_pi.dll
two levels up, into the 'build' directory. Then opened MSVC and ran it again.
3 files attached with breaks.. just continued after the break, was fussy, but it continued until the next break. Every break had listcntrl.cpp (1629) first.

Sean I know you had it working in the previous version, with the eye that you click to open and close. Seemed to be fine.

Re: celestial navigation plugin redux

I have tried to test the latest version, but get the following error message when starting OpenCpn. My file structure is described below.

What have I done wrong?

Try renaming the file "igrf11.cof" ==> "IGRF11.COF".
Looks like some snafu during compilation.

Re: celestial navigation plugin redux

Please Celestial_Nav requires 3 files be placed under
'opencpn/plugins/celestial_navigation/data/' -then the three files.

I have attached two zipped files with added .doc. Take off the doc and unzip. Then place the files properly in the above noted folder. They provide star data and instructions.

I believe this was noted above at the beginning of the thread.
The error is probably due to the files not being present where expected.

The plugin works and fixes can be saved, however Sean is working on the fact that the second fix overwrites the first in the list, but stays up graphically.

One of the files is still too big to attach, and is missing. We need a better way to do this. You must get the other file too or it won't work.
