Perhaps a programmer will be able to add these sometime.

Just tried two times (uninstallling the old version and re-installing the one you mention above). I still observe the same thing: black OpenCPN window and no more reaction from OpenCPN.

That's the version I initially tried (also two times) ......

Re: Celestial Navigation Plugin Redux

NAV,
First check your LOG file to see what the errors are and post them here if you find something you don't understand.

Then i suggest you use the uninstall-celestial-navigation_pi.exe and then check your opencpn.ini file to make sure that there are no left over 'celestial settings' in the ini.
Then try reinstalling the plugin.

I think there might be something in the ini file that is a causing this.

I have tried the plugin again and it seems to be working fine. I installed it into a fresh version of opencpn.ini (reasonably fresh anyway) and it works.

Another alternative, you can also rename your opencpn.ini to opencpn.ini.old or something and restart O and a new opencpn.ini will be created. Then try installing celestial_pi.

Still the same problem.

This is my log after uninstalling celestial, removing everything 'celestial' from ini, and reinstalling from opencpn.org again (I don't see anything strange):

Re: Celestial Navigation Plugin Redux

So the plugin is initializing and there don't seem to be any errors.
Have you tried enabling it?
What happens?
Does it show up or not?

What version of Opencpn are you runnning?

Yes, I can enable the plugin. The icon becomes visible in the icon bar. But when I click on the icon to start the plugin, the described problem occurs.

I'm running the stable version 4.2 of OpenCPN from opencpn.org (build 2016-02-03). OS is W10.

Re: Celestial Navigation Plugin Redux

NAV
I am going to use opencpn.lib for version 4.2.0 and build celestialnavigation_pi for release. Then upload to O Beta File Thingie.

If that does not work, I am sorry, I am running out of suggestions now. You seem to have done everything. The next thing might be to try renaming your opencpn.ini file to opencpn.ini.old if you have not done that.
Then start Opencpn? It will create a brand new ini file. Then you'll need to re enable the plugins one by one. If celestialnavigation_pi works with a new INI file, we will know the problem has to do with the ini.

First try the updated version please. I think Plugin API 108 and 110 s pretty old version. Should be at least 1.14 try the next one I upload please.

Re: Celestial Navigation Plugin Redux

NAV I've compiled and uploaded to O Beta File thingie rguser rgpass.
Look in 4.2.0 PI WIN folder.

I've installed that celestialnav_pi file into v4.2.0 (and it works) and my log shows this, even though the opencpn.lib that I used was the most current, and consequently it should work with v 4.2.0 . What these API numbers must be telling us is that this plugin can be compiled successfully for version 4.0 too! - Perhaps someone else has a suggestion if this does not work.

Re: Celestial Navigation Plugin Redux

Sean extended the Celestial plugin with functionality for lunar distances, and Pavel updated the po-file in CrowdIn accordingly.

I did the initial translations, but I can't test them. I still have a major issue starting the plugin: after clicking the plugin icon, I get a black OpenCPN screen and it seems an unending loop starts ... I have to stop OpenCPN 4.2. I'm using Windows 10 and have no major problems with other plugins. See previous posts for details of ini and log files.

Re: Celestial Navigation Plugin Redux

I agree NAV. I tried building Pavel's fork which is the most current and the language files came down, but when I try to enable the plugin, Ov4.2.0 just shuts down completely and disappears! Totally cleaned out the build directory and built a clean version. tried this twice.

We must be missing something from the language files. Maybe the POT or something?
Nope there are 24 files under po. All are po files + celestial_nav.pot and Potfile.in

Perhaps it is some problem with translation?
Could it be related to Jon's work trying to solve the duplicate translation words in two different plugins? using wxtranslations?

If we are having similar trouble with other plugins that might be related, but it is more likely something simpler.

There are a lot of Warnings when I compile. See attached.

I will upload that one to file thingie temporarily.

Re: Celestial Navigation Plugin Redux

NAV, Rick...
This plugin, as well as all the others now available on the opencpn.org download page works just fine for me. If there is any problem, I need to be able to reproduce it, so please try to produce a repeatable failure scenario we can investigate. To start with, disable all the other plugins and install the package downloaded from opencpn.org. If it won't fail, start adding the other stuff you usually have enabled until you get to a problematic situation.
As soon as we have a failure, we want as much info as possible - at least your logfile to start with.
Rick, please, use the official package in this test and forget about your local builds and any other modifications for a while.

Thanks

Pavel

Pavel,

I ....
1. Deactivated all plugins.
2. Completely removed Celestial from my PC
3. Stopped OpenCPN
4. Started OpenCPN
5. Installed Celestial from opencpn.org (for OpenCPN version 4.2)
6. Activated Celestial (icon becomes visible in icon bar)
Next thing that happens is OpenCPN hanging and showing a black screen.

Re: Celestial Navigation Plugin Redux

NAV...
Can you please temporarily remove the file C:\ProgramData\opencpn\plugins\celestial_navigatio n\Sights.xml and try again. If it "helps", we will need the file, so please don't delete it completely...
