Buoys labeled on Desktop but not on Laptop

I believe I have the identical settings on both my desktop and laptop and I've enclosed screenshots of the displayed charts and screenshots of the settings windows in the PDF attached. I'm running Win10 on both to the same Win10 level (updated yesterday). The laptop is Lenovo X220 and the desktop has a MSI board with Intel CPU.

Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

You may type key "T" on the keyboard or press the "A" symbol at the symbol taskbar.

I didn't know that hitting the "T" key overrode the selection on the options screen. It makes sense, T for Text.

Thanks for the help.

I agree OpenCPN is not very user friendly. Some settings are in the option windows others are in the taskbar.

The manual is rather daunting, OpenCPN has all the hallmarks of a program that grew by a lot of incremental adds with lots of shortcuts for experienced users. Nevertheless, it has a ton of features and will be worthwhile to learn. I've used it to compile GPX files for my book, 2017 ICW Cruising Guide on Amazon.com.
