Building Plugins in 2.3.0

I made the following post in the release thread for 2.3.0, I don't know if that was the right place to post it but didn't get a response to the problem reported below. I am very interested in developing plugins for this application.

Any help would be greatly approeciated.

Very excited to find the plugin enhancement, I looked ath this over a year ago to integrate instruments, the plugin concept solves that.

I have downloaded and built 2.3.0 from source and everything looks good until I try to use the plugins. It seems to want them in a plugins folder in the data folder rather than build, it builds okay, makes the dll's but they are not found unless placed in the data/plugins folder. when they are I get a runtime error.

in bitmap.cpp(802): assert "image.Ok()" failed in wxBitmap::CreateFromImage() invalid image.

Am I missing something in the building and config of the plugins?
