Thumbs up Bug: Grib plugin fails to load on beta Version 3.1.1319 Build 2013-01-19

HI, FYI

I'm using OpenCPN Version 3.1.1319 Build 2013-01-19 on Debian
the log file gives me the following error message :

<23:25:26 CET: PlugInManager: Loading PlugIn: /usr/local/lib/opencpn/libgrib_pi.so
23:25:26 CET: Error: /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6: version `GLIBCXX_3.4.15' not found (required by /usr/local/lib/opencpn/libgrib_pi.so)

The Grib icon does appear on the menu.

I used the SW
on my boat since the build was available, using NMEA network, tides and currents, AIS , CM93, logbook ... Everything works fine, no crash, only this Grib issue to be reported.

That's really a good stuff.
Regards
Alain

In your situation, it's better to use the appropriate package from this page -> https://launchpad.net/~nohal/+archive/opencpn, instead of the "official" Ubuntu packages.

Hi Thomas, this is a library vesion issue
I looked at the file /usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6 and the GLIBCXX_3.4.15 is not there, only the GLIBCXX_3.4.13 is included.
I' using the squized Debian release? how can I update the
/usr/lib/libstdc++.so.6 on my system ? Thanks four reply.
Regards
Alain

I don't think there is any point in trying to update libstdc++ on your system, it will probably lead to a never ending dependency hell.
Try one of the packages compiled for an older Ubuntu, as I linked to before. Failing that, compile your own. Instructions here: Compiling - Linux | Official OpenCPN Homepage.

Re: Bug: Grib plugin fails to load on beta Version 3.1.1319 Build 2013-01-19

Hi Thomas
I have solved this issue doing the following
I have downloaded the
libstdc++6_4.7.2-2ubuntu1_i386.deb from the URL
http://pkgs.org/ubuntu-12.10/ubuntu-....deb/download/
uncompressed it
found the file libstdc++.so.6.0.17 under
./usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/
Copy it as root under /usr/lib
removed the link libstdc++.so.6.0
reinstall the libstdc++.so.6.0 link with the new libstdc++.so.6.0.17
Then the grib icon appears in OpenCPN and works fine.
Thanks for your support
Alain
