BU 353 Happily Blinking - But Datastream Empty

Installed OpenCPN, installed charts, installed GPS (BU 353). Downloaded newest drivers from Prolific, according to MS device manager 'this device is working properly'. OpenCPN on right port, both 4800 but still Nothing. This is progress because had twice a blue screen but still.... would like to see me on the chart...
PC is windows 7, 64bit. Went through all the trouble shooting exercises but ran out of options.... anybody with similar experience? or any suggestions/ideas?

You can download the GPS utility from the manufacturer's site and run it. That will confirm that the GPS data is getting into the computer. Be certain that only one program is using the GPS at a time unless you have installed software that shares the COM connection.

Re: BU 353 happily blinking but datastream empty

Hi Carina, I did and that works perfectly, 12 satellites and NYC did not move one bit... (that is good news I guess). So... the GPS signal makes it to my PC and that little utility tool gets the msg. That narrows it down. THANKS!!!
