Yes, as far as I remember it was always like this.

Happy...

I am using my ownship icon.

I just don't understand how the edited opencpn.ini file keeps getting overwritten with a default version. How else can I adjust the icon size?

Re: Boat Icon Too Small - Why ????

Thomas..

Of course I am aware of the fact that AIS targets displayed in the AIS target list may not be visible on the map outside of the used scale.

I have cases where NO targets are showing at all,or the number of targets do not correlate with the target list.

I am however a bit suspicious of my RS232/USB conversion cable which seems to switch off it's green light now and again. Perhaps it looses it's USB power?

Re: Boat Icon Too Small - Why ????

Tore,

USB cables and especially connectors can be a nightmare with Windows:
sometimes (worn connector or USB-port) a slight bending may cause a very short interrupt of the power supply to the powered device.
It will reset - but Windows often will not be aware of this reset if the outage was short enough and will maintain the port, but no handshake with the external device will happen.
If you have the acoustic warning for plug/unplug USB devices enabled this can give you a hint: if the USB device resets and you don't hear anything then Windows has not noticed the event.

USB connectors are not designed for working in only slightly rough environments and I'm not aware of any improvement in that direction.
But we will live with that , I fear

Jeez,Tore, neither do I. You do get some weird ones, don't you.
Do your changed settings show up on starting but are not saved on shutdown?
IF NOT, I wonder if your ini file got to be "ReadOnly" somehow. Easy to test this. Change this:
"[Settings]
NavMessageShown=1"
to:
"[Settings]
NavMessageShown=0" and save the ini file

and you'll get the OpenCPN navigation warning on startup. But not after that.

You could just check the ini file's "properties" =a right-clickon file in XP.
Does Vista have peculiar Permissions for programs? some kind of "Data Read/Write access"? Might be there too.

Tore...
Make double sure that OpenCPN is not running while you are editing the INI file

Re: Boat Icon Too Small - Why ????

aha. That would do it. But you're not the only one that's done THAT,Tore. Not that many people are hacking their ini files on a regular basis either.
