Boat file does not exist

On MacBook Pro, I am trying to do Weather Routing based on GRIB file or Climatology files. Compute gives me an error saying “Failed to start configuration: Boat file does not exist.” I have a polar file added. What am I missing?

Re: Boat file does not exist

Ron...
Probably creating the boat configuration and assigning the polar(s) to it.

Panel, screen shots were helpful. But still not routing anything. Is there a manual for routing or plugins? I’m not finding useful info in Help file. That is all I have time for today.

Yes, there is a chapter for weather routing in the manual, at https://opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwiki/do...eather_routing
I have never looked at it and am not using this plugin myself except some trivial tests when packaging the releases and fixing obvious bugs, so am not very sure I can help you much.
Just ask. But when asking, ask well - "Still not routing anything" is indeed not a good question someone with the needed knowledge can answer.

Ron,
Ideally the plugin installs and the new user can "Compute" one of the configurations in the menu immediately. These "configurations" require and use Climatology for wind data, so you must have climatology installed. Were you able to compute and complete any of the initial configurations?

Additionally, a "Boat.xml" file must contain one or more "Polar" files. To be sure a Boat.xml file has a polar file hit "Edit" and check for the polar file. Then "Save" the boat file. The best polar file is selected for the conditions. A square is entered on the route for each sail change. Hovering over the route with your cursor should give you the polar or sail change being used.

Pavel gave you the documentation link. There is a very big Weather_routing thread that has lots of information.
