blacked out screen? and ideas

Hi everyone. New to this and have been struggling to find what i am doing wrong.
Loaded the software on my imac and downloaded the cm93 maps (with slow connection took 2 days!)
I seem to have a dark screen with all the buttons active, but dark, and the maps showing in black and purple, but again really dark

Any ideas what i have done wrong?

Are you are in night mode?

rollmouse over the tool bar top and click on the sunset looking icon to go throuh the options (sunset icon is 5 icons to the right from A+, hard to see in night mode)

welcome to the cpn users forum by the way!

I work in training HGV Drivers.

my mantra is

There is no such thing as a stupid question, just a lack of understanding.

the best improvements in understanding comes from the questions.

must admit the cm93 is a great resource.

It is and thanks for your help. All working now. Next is hooking up inputs (gps and ais) Do you know if there is a resource anywhere ( this forum or elsewhere) explaining how to do this?
I have Navman and Lowrance plotters and would like to take inputs from one of them, but no idea where to start or if possible.
Thanks again
Martin

Re: blacked out screen? and ideas

The help section is a start

on yoeman site there is a diagram of how to wire a serial rs232 plug

Yeoman Sport download the pdf and page 58 gives the standard pin outs for nema in out and ground

you will need a rs232 to usb converter to comnnect to a laptop as modern laptops dont have rs232 connectors any more.

easy answer, buy a ais device that connects by usb, has its own gps for positioning.

Thanks for the info, very useful.
I didn't know you could get an AIS device that included gps? Do you have any further details as this would handle it all for me.

It is mandatory for a certified AIS transponder to include its own GPS. Relying on an external GPS is not allowed.

(Receiver only models are different of course, they need not be certified)
