Re: Beta Test / Technical

Hello,

could not answer until now, because I had technical problems with the access to the forum.
I tried the beta 2316 two days ago. First I was happy, the AUT charts worked while I "moved" on my laptop at home along the river of Danube from the DEU-AUT border towards the SVK border. The charts were ok. But after having reached the chart near Bratislava, the system crashed. After the restart, the AUT charts were grey again, as already prescribed in a former post.

greetings,

sahara

Sahara...
I still can't reproduce the crash. Could you please isolate the cell causing it and post it here?

Thanks

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Pavel ...
thanks for helping still.
Meanwhile I've reinstalled 2316 and tried again. Not better.
But afterwards I've created a new folder for all the ENC charts. I made again a new download from the official enc sides of AUT and SVK with new unzip and now it seems to work, never ask me why!
Thank you very much,

sahara

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Sahara,

if you can still recover the log file better.
A (possibly) corrupt file should not crash the program.
It would be interesting to get the "culprit" in detail.

bcn ...
have been some days off.
I could send you the logfile, if we find a way to do it directly, because I wouldn't like to have a logfile of mine to be seen for everybody in the net.

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Now I see - found a PM and was not able to correlate that with somebody.

What you've sent is the install log - what would be interesting is the run log: that's the one which's location is indicated pressing the help "?" icon...

bcn...
sorry for my simple question:
I've seen it, and I see it on C:, how can I send it to you without anyone else able to look at it?

Re: Beta Test / Technical

If you like the same way as the other time.
Or via o-charts (the S-63 stuff, we are running this for OCPN).

bcn ...

well, last time, it was more an accident that you got it than intention to do so. I don't know how it worked. And I'm not able to reproduce it.
Therefore:
Could you explain me, how to send you the logfile?
Could you delete those admin-posts?

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Don't know about "admin posts"....

Most probably you clicked on the "bcn" on left of the post and then sent me a "private message" (that is bothering you right now as you have now a PM from me.... ).
Did cost me as well some time to get this running.

The other would be I n f o (at) o-charts.org

Cheers

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Hi,

Today I've downloaded the Beta 3.3.2330 (Mac). The program seems to be way more stable and some of the overlaying issues with windows seem to be gone.

I have a couple of comments so far:

1-For some reason the area where the charts is displayed goes when using skewed charts (e.g. ICW, 11472_5 Raster).
2-When selecting OpenCPN Help from the Menu (not the toolbar), nothing seems to happen.

Has these issues been reported yet?

Best,

Joaquin

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Joaquin...

1. Skewed charts are not quilted in OpenCPN. We switch to single chart mode automatically when you select a skewed chart. Is this what you observe?

2. I will check the menubar->Help option on Mac. It does work fine on linux.

Welcome aboard, and nice to meet you in person today.

Safe travels

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Dave,

I am aware that skewed charts are not quilted. This is not the problem I have. In 3.2.2 my problem is not happening, only in the latest beta (3.3.2330).
When the largest scale chart is selected (which happens to be a skewed chart where I am right now), after a few seconds or after panning with the keyboard, the screen goes white. I've attached two screenshots, one with a smaller scale chart and one with the largest (skewed) chart, where the screen is white.

Cheers,

Joaquin

PS: It was really nice meeting you too! What are the chances, right?

Joaquin....

Definitely a bug. Worth a post in Flyspray, I think.

Are you using OpenGL? This may make a difference.

It is not so difficult to make a genuine OS X Help system because it is also HTML as the actually OCPN help. However it has to be splitted in some more files. That has also the benefit to use a keyword search.
My personal attempt is only in german but can be done in any language.
