The routes and waypoints are stored in the INI file, so if you have chosen to reset it while installing, your work is lost

I don't know if it helps you, but I always manually export all data into .GPX files...

Missing Color

Dear all,

I tried to create a big image from all of cell from ENC file with different scaling.
when i set the view_scale_ppm value become 0.0884355984, bottom side of map doesn't have background color like attached image.

I still newbie in GIS. I need help from all of you.
thanks in advanced.

here is the code i used to produce image.
Code:
ViewPort svp1 (svp);
double latMin = 1.1552578;
double lonMin = 103.6009078;
double latMax = 1.3570519;
double lonMax = 104.0964146;

svp1.view_scale_ppm = 0.0884355984;

wxPoint p1 = svp1.GetMercatorPixFromLL(latMax, lonMin);
wxPoint p2 = svp1.GetMercatorPixFromLL(latMin, lonMax);

svp1.pix_width = svp1.rv_rect.width = abs(p1.x - p2.x);
svp1.pix_height = svp1.rv_rect.height = abs(p1.y - p2.y);

svp1.clat = (latMax + latMin) / 2;
svp1.clon = (lonMax + lonMin) / 2;

svp1.vpBBox.SetMin (lonMin, latMin);
svp1.vpBBox.SetMax (lonMax, latMax);

wxBitmap bmp ( svp1.pix_width, svp1.pix_height, -1 );
wxMemoryDC bmpMem;
bmpMem.SelectObject(bmp);

if(ChartData && ChartData->IsValid())
{
	m_pQuilt->Compose(svp1);
	svp1.SetProjectionType(m_pQuilt->GetQuiltProj());

        // Allow the quilt to adjust the new ViewPort for performance optimization
	// This will normally be only a few pixels adjustment...
	m_pQuilt->AdjustQuiltVP(svp, svp1);
}

ocpnMemDC memDC;

wxRegion chart_get_region1(wxRect(0,0,svp1.pix_width, svp1.pix_height));
m_pQuilt->RenderQuiltRegionViewOnDC( memDC, svp1, chart_get_region1, ScaleTypeEnum::RENDER_HIDEF );
bmpMem.Blit ( 0, 0, svp1.pix_width, svp1.pix_height, &memDC, 0, 0 );

bmp.ConvertToImage().SaveFile("coba1.png", wxBITMAP_TYPE_PNG);
bmpMem.SelectObject(wxNullBitmap);
warm regards,

Stanley

Look Ahead Mode and Auto Sharpen (?)

Two functions that don't seem to be working in Version 2.2 Build 918 for Windows;

When using Auto Follow, Look Ahead Mode does not seem to be working. The ship icon stays centered on the chart (I am using NOAA RNC charts).

With NOAA RNC charts Version 2.1.0 Build 624a will sharpen chart detail after scrolling. Version 2.2 Build 918 for Windows won't do that.

sail323....

More info please.

Are you using CourseUp mode?

Also, the autosharpen: 2,2,918 changed the logic here. BSB charts are always rendered as hidefinition "sharpened" after mouse pan actions.

Please describe your scenario in full detail to produce these problems, and I'll take another look.

Screenshots?

Thanks
Dave

Thanks, Dave

I see what you mean about Beta 2.2 Build 918; "BSB charts are always rendered as hidefinition "sharpened" after mouse pan actions". Not a problem.

Re: 'Look Ahead Mode', I attached a couple of screen shots. The first is 2.10 Stable and the second is Beta 2.2 Build 918.

Sail323....

Thanks for the shots.

You are experiencing an experimental new behavior in 918, lookahead mode.

Here is how it works:
If the boat speed is less than 1 kt, then lookahead is disabled.
If boat speed is greater than 3 kts, lookahead is enabled.
In between 1 and 3 kts, the lookahead "distance" is adjusted smoothly.

Here is why I am trying this:
If you are at anchor, swinging on the hook produces random courses and low speeds. The old lookahead algorithm would cause the chart rendering to be redrawn constantly, with the boat in all possible lookahead positions as the course changes. Pretty distracting, and lookahead is meaningless in this situation.

I'd appreciate your comments on this new algorithm if you have a chance to try it underway.

Thanks for the feedback
Dave

Dave,
generally a very good idea as usually Just one wish: Could you make the speed limits configurable? I still would like to have lookahead enabled while sailing at low speed in light winds.

Thanks again, Dave

Your reasoning makes a lot of sense. I haven't had the opportunity to try OpenCPN while underway yet. When I do, I'll give some feedback.

Making Units Match on Vector Charts

Version 2.2 build 918, chart US5FL11M, 27 41.578'N 82 40.741'W.

The screen shot shows the Maximo Point Bridge south of St. Petersburg, Florida. The bridge's vertical clearance is shown on the chart as "clr 19.8". The chart is set to display soundings in feet. The bridge clearance is shown in meters. The bridge clearance should be displayed in the same units selected for soundings.

If you perform an object query the vertical clearance is correctly displayed as 65 feet.

This issue applies to more than bridges. Look just southeast of the bridge at Sunshine Skyway Channel Light 26 (27 41.469'N 82 41.019'W). Once again, even though the soundings are set to feet the height of the light is given in meters. The object query for that light also gives results in meters.

Now look at the RNC chart for the same area: 11416. On that chart soundings are in feet, the bridge clearance and the height of the light are given in feet. All the units match. Isn't that the way it should be?

If soundings are in feet all depths and heights on the chart should be displayed in feet and object queries should retrieve heights and depths in feet.

If soundings are in fathoms all depths on the chart should be in fathoms all heights should be in feet and object queries should retrieve heights in feet and depths in fathoms.

If soundings are in meters all depths and heights on the chart should be in meters and object queries should retrieve heights and depths in meters.

Now, what about the visible range of lights? Should a metric chart display ranges in miles (as is currently done) or in kilometers? I don't have any metric raster charts in my collection so I don't know the convention. Are metric charts fully metric or do they use metric units only for vertical dimensions?

Can't install 2.2.918 on my netbook

I have an eeePC 900 and use a slimmed XP as OS. I can install the 2.10 version of openCPN without any problems, and all is running ok. But when I will upgrade to 2.2.918 this will not install. I got an Application error: The application failed to initialize properly (0x015000-4). Click on OK to terminate the application.
I then have to reinstall 2.10 to have openCPN running.
What can be done to solve this problem?

Have you this problem if you tick "Reset OpenCPN configuration ..." during install process ?
