From Raymarine documentation, it appears that the autopilot only outputs heading and rudder angle.

Thanks but this is not correct. My NMEA feed works correctly with other navigation programs and I also gave a dump of the data. The $IIGLL sentence is the GPS output (somewhere in Southern California).

My post is in the Beta test thread because I believe that it is either a bug or a "feature" of the program. I don't believe it is a cockpit errror (but it can always happen).

GLL

BernardofCA...

opencpn Version 1.3.4 does not recognize or use $XXGLL.

I guess I'll have to add it into the next version.

Without getting into a complex prioritization dialog, I'll just use whichever of RMC or GLL which arrives most recently.

Sorry for the slipup here. The new 1.3.5 Beta with this feature will arrive shortly....

Thanks
Dave

In 1.3.4 when pressing the blue ? button an new instance of the "About Dialog" is created every time. Press three times and three dialogs pops up. I had expected a behavior similar to the "Tool Box" where only one instance is possible.

Dave,

This is very good. I will report on the result as soon as the release is out. The issue of priority is an interesting one but I agree that always using the last reported position, no matter which sentence it came from, should be OK.

Tides and currents

Hello!
There are still some known deficiencies with the decoding of C-MAP charts. Apparently there are deviations from the standard in the charts themselves as well.
Please identify the name of the chart in question (from within opencpn) and the precise name of the C-MAP dataset, make some screenshots with/without currents (with the commercial programme in question) if at all possible, and then post the bug here (this thread is monitored by the lead developer).

The charts i use together with MaxSea 10.3.2.1 is cm93 ed 2 updated to May 2009 downloaded from CNF. SeaSoft
In open CPN the chart is named CM93ChartA 1/3000000 2008

To clarify: This is about current arrows on the maps.

Chart directory init bug

When changing chart directories in the options dialog, you can paste directly into the selected directory text control. But if you do this and then click the Add Selection button, the pasted contents are ignored. The DirCtrl current location replaces the pasted contents in the text box and is added to the list of dirs instead.

I guess the easiest fix is to make options.pSelCtl style wxTE_READONLY (@ options.cpp line 1792 in todays cvs head):

Code:
  pSelCtl = new wxTextCtrl( itemPanel9, ID_TEXTCTRL1, _T(""),
    wxDefaultPosition, wxSize(-1, -1), wxTE_READONLY );
Also, um, it'd be great if uninstall asked whether to zap the chartdb while uninstalling. I uninstalled 1.3.2 to install 1.3.4, and I'm still waiting for the rescan of the dirs to finish, since the uninstall deleted my chart setup w/o asking.

Problem with multiple chart CDs

Hi,

When I'm trying to use several chart cds (CM93). I only seems to get the first line in "Active Charts Directories" to work. Actually it seems to find som higher level of chart. But it won't work when I want more detail (zoom in). In the screenshot below only zone 1-2 will be in high detail and not the rest of the world. If I change place on the lines I can get more detail on the other zones as well. I don't know if this is a bug in OpenCPN or if it is because of the way CM93 works.

Kind regards
Johan

I can't get it to zoom all the way in on certain chartsets/regions, I believe not all chartsets are complete?

Hi,

If I move the lines in toolbox and then when I get back to the chart I got more details.

Kind regards
Johan

Try just this one line in active chart directory:
/mnt/storage/cm93_may

When right clicking and selecting "Max Detail Here" in a raster chart,
OpenCPN changes to a CM93 chart of roughly the same scale, even if a more detailed raster chart is available.
If viewing an area in a small scale in CM93 and clicking "Max Detail Here", nothing really happens even if larger scale raster and CM93 charts are available.
If CM93 isn't loaded "Max Detail Here" works as expected.
As far as I can remember all this worked as expected prior to 1.3.4. ??

Thomas,

I'm using only CM93 maps.
I thought Max Detail Here never worked for me. Just to be sure I re-installed 1.3.2, and no, it didn't work. Must be an old bug but as I use wheel-zoom it didn't bother me.
The (probably) related scale in / scale out buttons (now shift to larger / smaller scale chart) never brought up another map either.
