Any idea for this??

Everything on the latest stable version. Last year I haven't seen anything similar, now this is even a milder dropout, in some situations the boat "jumped off" the track for 5-10 minutes, sailing on land!

Is it possible, that the oreo/android update is the culprit?

I wonder if it is related to the problem I'm seeing, (not on android).

On O4.8.8 with two GPS inputs, O bounces from one to the other and the result is seen in the image.

That is not a problem. That is a feature.

You have two GPS units so you have two positions. If you want a smooth track you need to use just on GPS so filter out the messages for the one that you don't want.

As per what Dave is saying,

You can set priorities on the message sources as to which signal is preferred or it’s priority whatever language makes more sense.

I’ve seen some impacts that usually come down to instrument / GPS settings, things like allowing the GPS to send on poor fix quality because the rx antennae was faulty, that sort of thing.

With different refresh / update rates between sources and with source data errors you can simulate the symptoms. Message collisions on the network can cause same symptoms...

Maybe describe how it is all set up might shed more light ?

All the best

/Ron

I also suspect a dual input issue: this time I had a SIM in the tablet, gsm location was probably active. Will try flight mode on my next trip!

As for registering to other forums, I have little time ATM. If the issue doesn't get resolved in flight mode, I'll just revert back everything (android, opencpn) to last year's version.

Well this is the wrong forumn for Android support so if you want OS specific help you will have to do some legwork.

Reverting back to previous versions of OCPN will not make any difference as, as far as I know, the code related to position plotting has not changed. Reverting your OS may make some difference.

Re: Beta Test / Technical

David Burch, from Starpath is asking what version of OpenCPN will run this new parameter REFC

He would like to make a video for using it. And would like to know which version is most appropriate and where to get it?

Found this

https://github.com/OpenCPN/OpenCPN/issues/1430

and merged from Didier

https://github.com/OpenCPN/OpenCPN/pull/1385
"always disable REFC in request dialog box for now." because it was not available. ...but It is now.

Canne and I have been working on CI: Appveyor/Travis process to automatically build windows, mac and linux and push to new Github Release. We have used help and files from Sean and Nereus32.
