Are you sure? Does not seem to be the case here. Wasn't the request actually to be able to hide ALL the squiddio waypoints easily?

Pavel of course you are correct. When the "Hide all squiddio POI" is selected at the right click, when you open Route Manager and go to the Waypoint Tab, the squiddio POI have indeed been hidden...."

This is odd because a little while ago I had noted that they did not disappear, and just now I found a little crash bug.
1. Open squiddio.
2. Download local squiddio destinations.
3. Open RouteManager, hit Waypoint TAB.
4. Hide local squiddio destinations.
5. Long thinking crash/failure.

Also see the real reasons for moving/fixing Squiddio data here
under "POI - Many ways to skin a cat "This is a historical summary, and the subject goes back further than this.

Can someone explain to me, like to a child, what the actual problem is? Is it crashing now? If so, how to reproduce?
Is there anything that needs to be implemented, besides a way to hide all the squidd.io waypoints, not just the local ones? If so, what?

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Pavel.
1. Thank you for insisting on knowing why I asked about moving sqiddio POI to layers.
After looking back, the real answer is here "POI -Many ways to skin a cat" and in the links in that post including comment by Erkkisdt that sums up the real reason squiddio data and format is too limited by the waypoint object, and is one reason AC users find it inadequate. --Note: This is what I understand from User's comments. I am just the messenger.

2. Yes there is a another real bug that is repeatable Tracker

3. Yes there was a suggestion that a new Toolbar Button be made to toggle Show/Hide, in addition to actions from right-click on the chart. Perhaps this makes the most sense. I guess there would remain another Toolbar Button for the current menu that come up. Also I think new users did not know about the Right-click at the chart and pick download, or hide. Mauro added this

Re: Beta Test / Technical

In the wiki 'Compiling for windows'

https://opencpn.org/wiki/dokuwiki/do...piling_windows

in the build section with Visual Studio 2017, the commands should be of the form (e.g.)

Code:
cmake –-build . –-config release –-target package
instead of

Code:
cmake –build . –config release –target package

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Hello,

Is there a beta testing mailing list I could be added to. I see beta testing is INACTIVE at:
https://bigdumboat.com/opencpnbeta.html
It would be great to be notified when it opens up again.

Also when upgrading opencpn from apt-get ubunto repositories I have this message:
opencpn is already the newest version (4.8.2-0~xenial1).
Thats great! It's obiously OK. However, in the menu: help->about opencpn I have the release as much older. My config file reads.
[Settings]
ConfigVersionString=Version 4.5.0 Build 2016-07-19
I understand an upgrade is reluctant to touch local config settings, but it's a little unfortunate.

Hope to be able to help with more nitty-gritty bits later... allthough it's a daunting codebase and big project to become familiar with.

Thanks for all the great work! I use opencPN all the time.

No, we do not use any mailing lists, enough traffic in everybody's inbox as it is now... Monitor this forum for beta announcements.

That is indeed weird and not the case here. Are you sure you don't have 4.5.0 somewhere and actually run it instead of 4.8.2? With this string in the config file, you would get the "not for navigation" warning on every start of 4.8.2, is it the case?

SOLVED issue of version number. (Actually running wrong binary).

I had opencpn v4.5 in /usr/local/bin and thus that overrides the new Deban Package install binary located in /usr/bin

Thanks.

Dashboard > Pref > Show this Dash is ignored?

v4.8.2 with Win10, using a fresh download from the website and install over another version of v4.8.2.

Does anyone notice that Dashboard > Preferences > Checkbox Show this Dashboard appears to be ignored when unchecked. My installation seems to be loading all Dashboards.

Should I remove that section of opencpn.ini and try restarting? Or is it a problem for others too?

It does it on my other machine too. At first I though the uncheck was working, but I found only one dashboard created in that installlation. I created a second dash, and saved and clicked the Toolbar Button one dashboard came up as it should. Then I clicked again. It disappeared. Then to be sure I clicked Dashboard Toolbar Button again and both Dashboards came up!

Some logic appears to be broken.

I found this to be very annoying on one machine while trying to test nmeaconverter, because I have about 8 confiigurations and they all came up and slowed the machine to an impossible crawl. I am going to have to delete at least 5 of these configs to use O. Or disable Dashboard, but that is what I was testing! I haven't tested if this happens in Tactics, but I'll bet it does.

Re: Beta Test / Technical

It was some misconfiguration in both machines opencpn.ini. I've deleted all the dashboards and recreated some and it is working now.
