Can you use GPX Editor program to extract the offending tracks and send them?

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Good point, Terry, but I wanted to upload the whole GPX, as I don't know where the problems are. But I took your advice & downloaded the editor, just to look at things, and it confirms that some tracks are doubled. As an example, the track labeled: 2015 05 17 May Tual to Long Beach has 2 virtually identical segments. Why? They display a bit strangely, as OCPN seems to think they should be consecutive.
But the other (big) question is: why don't the waypoints import?

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Jon,

I think that double loop thing is a bug in 4.4. I experienced it several times, las.t year, right after I upgraded to 4.4. 4.6 doesn't have it. It seemed to be mainly caused by merging tracks.

To get rid of it (while still using 4.4), I had to export the track, manually edit the gpx file, and re-import the track.

Good luck!

Sherry

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Jon...

I had no trouble importing your GPX file into O4.6.1 (Windows). Did not look at the tracks closely, but the waypoints came in just fine.

Also tested on O4.6.2, with new Icons. Also fine.

Did you have no success at all in importing these waypoints into 4.6.1? Any more information?

Thanks
Dave

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Hi Dave. BTW, thank you SO MUCH for such an awesome program! I'm pushing it by offering my 120,000 GE KAPs of Indonesia to the boats on the 2 Indo rallies.

I suppose it could have been user error or my installation, but it did it 2x before I scared myself & quit. Now I've solved my problem by editing the GPX files in the GPX Editor instead of OCPN. Several of the tracks had almost identical segments, but Sherry suggested that might have been a 4.4 bug which was swatted in 4.6, & I certainly ran 4.4 for a while.

Not sure if this is the place for suggestions, but it would be nice if dialog boxes (like Track Properties) & columns (like Time/Date) remembered their (new) sizes from run to run, & if things like AIS track lengths (time) also persisted from run to run instead of being constantly reset. I'm sure there are more, but these are the ones I'm constantly resetting.

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Jon,
If you could register on Tracker, -see the main opencpn.org menu for Tracker, - and then make separate feature requests and then vote for them that would be very helpful. We don't want to loose these ideas Thanks

Opencpn version that started using API 1.14?

OPENCPN version that started using API 1.14?
Thanks.

Plugin (pi) API Versions and OpenCPN Version Compatibility

pi18 (1.8) = OpenCPN 3.0 [Use oldest supported Opencpn 3.2.2]
pi19 (1.9) = OpenCPN 3.2 [Use oldest supported Opencpn 3.2.2]
pi19 (1.9) = OpenCPN 3.2.2 [Oldest supported version]
pi110 (1.10) = OpenCPN 3.3.x (under design and development now).
pi110 (1.10) = OpenCPN 3.4
pi111 (1.11) = OpenCPN 3.4
pi112 (1.12) = OpenCPN 3.4
??? = OpenCPN 4.0 <---wxWidgets 2.8.1 used
pi113 (1.13) = OpenCPN 4.1 <--- wxWidgets 3.0.2 used
pi113 (1.13) = OpenCPN 4.2
pi114 (1.14) = OpenCPN ??

In plugin filenames there generally be will be a designation as above (it is part of the plugin filename format).
It tells which API version it needs and, if it was built against the right codebase with which version it should run - Startup of Opencpn leaves messages in the opencpn.log regarding the status of each plugin. If the plugin is not installed because the current Opencpn version does not support it, the piXXX designation will help you decipher what the problem is and what can be done.

These files can be found
http://sourceforge.net/projects/open...ent_libraries/
or
http://sourceforge.net/projects/open...s/opencpn_lib/

Not quite so but changed to work in Windows and used in latest BR24 beta.
Sorry if I was unclear

Fully working API 1.14 = OpenCPN 4.8.0, broken implementation of API 1.14 = OpenCPN 4.6.0, real problem = none, nobody was using that API until it was fixed.

Thanks Pavel, I'll fix the statement again. We've been missing you. Hope all is well.

OpenCPN 4.8.0 Beta available for final test under OpenSUSE

Hello,

I have just published in in my sandbox a candidate of OpenCPN 4.8.0 for OpenSUSE.
Having only completed my tests from my office, I will only publish, in the official repos, after more testing at sea.

All the Linux compatible plugins have also been updated
(except sweepplot for which I have raised a bug https://github.com/seandepagnier/sweepplot_pi/issues/10).

Any help in testing is welcome.

As usual one click install is still available and upgrade from 4.6>4.8 is transparent.

Thanks for the new code.
