Seems like a waste of time.

It scans the catalog each time it loads a plugin. This is not a serious time waster.

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Indeed not very fine but this was once done because there might be same strings in a plugin as well as in the main code. Often these same strings have other meanings and tranlations and so the developers has found no other solution.
The better way is to avoid same strings...

Re: Beta Test / Technical

I am finding that Opencpn v4.1.918 generally closes properly if I go to Menubar "Navigate" > "Close" however it refuses to close and everything freezes when I hit the upper left X in Windows. I have to close it from task manager then or tell Windows not to search for a solution, then it closes.

The Menubar "Navigate" > "Close" also generally closes open plugins too (I have just tested just a few of the plugins by keeping them open when O is closed.)

I will make a Tracker entry.

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Trying to get v4.1.925 installed on a SurfacePro3 with Chartdwnldr.
Downloaded the one on the website Downloads, and it does not seem to have Chartdwnldr.... wait it is not "Enabled" under Settings > Plugins, but it is there!

This page
Plugins for OpenCPN 4.1 | Official OpenCPN Homepage
Chart Downloader Included in the core package since 4.1.925 Included in the core package since 4.1.925
Might suggest that the plugin needs to be "Enabled" under Settings > Plugins
since the other three wmm, grib and dashboard are always enabled.

--small detail.

Re: Beta Test / Technical

OCPN Inbound Grib plugin:
On Win 10, recent Github fetch.
While translating these two options for Grib options dialog I can't find any visual difference when switching between them.
<> Only one Dialog with a title/drag bar
<> Only one Dialog without title/drag bar
Please anyone explain what's expected to happen when I choose one or another.

Thanks
Håkan

Correct, it doesn't work anymore since someone fiddled with the grib_pi code. It is always the same: Someone changes something without testing the results to other functions.

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Gerhard..
Thanks for the acknowledge, now I know I didn't misunderstood things here.

I believe that test changes and try to find unintended influences, is what beta testing is partly about? And of course to report obstacles so that those having enough knowledge can correct.

The "Only one Dialog with a title/drag bar" bug in grib_pi is hereby reported I hope.

Håkan

One "better" way to report plugin bugs is to go to the github repository for that plugin and start a new issue. This sends an email directly to the repository owner.

Nope, not in the case of the grib plugin where several people spoils the code...

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Github help please.
I've to learn a lot and I didn't succeed to find an understandable answer in any wiki. Now if someone could explain how to.....
I have a branch, "myocpn", in my Github. In that branch is one commit I would like to share as a pull request to OpenCPN master. I don't want to push the whole branch since there are other stuff only valid for my boat's navigational system.

I made a follower/buddy option to MMSI-Properties. I can add a MMSI and check the new "Follower" option and then CPA alert is not created for that MMSI. If that would be of interest for others a pull request is a good start? (Next is of course if my coding is found useful?)

My commit can be found at:
https://github.com/Hakansv/OpenCPN/c...37e11837a54954
So -- how can I send a pull request including this commit only?

Thanks
Håkan

Re: Beta Test / Technical

Rick..
Thanks but not really. Pull requests in general I've made a couple but only when the difference to master is one or two commit and all are valid for the request. Now it's only one commit a bit down in the list.

Hakan,
Did you see Tracker FS#1884 by any chance? - You've just done one of the three items!
FS#1884 : AIS Remember List "White" List - Fleet, Disable Alarm, Proximity Alarm

Re: Beta Test / Technical

I've heard Sean talk about "cherry picking" , perhaps from the commit list you can cherry pick and make a pull request?
