Beta 2.4.324

I use Open CPN 2.4.324 as I use encripted BSB4 Canadian Charts for North West Passage. It worked since March well.
Just to day this version slowed down to molasses and indexing takes ages into unknown.
Practically to do any measurements and panning is the chore. Picking any tools item also takes extra time.
Checked my computer for any viruses and there are none as well as registry for unwanted entry. Removed all BSB coastal charts from viewing and other except for cm93. I am running under XP SP3. With 2 Gb RAM the use of it is only 0.5 Gb. Any clue ?. Thanks for support.

Can you update to 2.5? it's harder to find help with betas..
then you can get the newer plugin at

PlugIns | Official OpenCPN Homepage

and there's a thread particular to any difficulties withCanadian bsb4 charts

http://www.cruisersforum.com/forums/...highlight=bsb4

I'd do a fresh install, not keeping your old settings, but a similar option -without installing the Stable Version of OpenCPN -is to just delete the whole config folder that the ? on the toolbar will help you find....

Many thanks HappySeagull, It is good suggestion to switch to newer version. In the meantime I have managed to force indexing of charts (what ever minimum I allowed). Many re-boots and for now is fine.
I never had a problem with Canadian BSB4 before and it is not related.
Will export all the WP's, routes etc. for further use with new installation.

Thanks HappySeagall. It is good idea to upgrade to newer version. Eventually I have managed indexing the charts after many tries and re-boots and it seem to doing good.

Re: Beta 2.4.324

Great,Victor,
It should not take that effort to load your charts!and that it was a new symptom, puzzles me.
check in the opencpn log.A bad chart perhaps?..Something corrupted, is what it sounds like.It might be outside OpenCPN in the OS too...well,we'll see,eh?

Re: Beta 2.4.324

Happy Seagul,
I checked Open CPN log and sure enough it reported many NOAA charts corrupted.
The line started with "Chart File contains less than 3 PLY points:" then location of chart on the drive and all together 4 lines. There was nothing about difficulty of indexing unless it is called something like Frame. Simply I will use original back-up charts as in the newer version it may repeat the same. Thanks a lot to the hint.
