Re: Android Development Underway

Manimaul:

I would like to use my own .kap files in MxMariner. A little googling yields this program:
MAPC2MAPC
as capable of converting .kap files to .gemf files.

Do you know if this works with MxMariner? Or do you have an alternative recommendation?

Thx. Don.

Re: Android Development Underway

Don,

Here are links to all of the software I've used to create the .gemf charts collections. If you know your way around python in particular, then you can probably roll your own with some effort.

GDAL: GDAL - Geospatial Data Abstraction Library
tilers-tools - A few scripts for tiled maps creation and manipulation - Google Project Hosting
CGTK - GEMF Map Store Format
--
My unsupported collection of it all pieced together:
https://github.com/manimaul/MTCW

good luck,

Will

Re: Android Development Underway

You can download MAPC2MAPC and try it for free - it just adds red Xs onto the map until you register.

What's the best way to get the update if I don't have "Automatically Update Apps" set in my phone? (I have limited bandwidth, so I like to choose what gets updated when.)

When I go to the Android Marketplace for MX Mariner, it says "Already Installed" and doesn't give an option to install over the old. Should I just delete and reinstall?

You apply the update just like any other Android app. I just pushed the update out to the market moments ago. It takes the Android Market a little while to update itself. When is says current version is 1.1.3 on the Android Market page, then you'll be good to go.

Okay -- sorry to jump the gun. On my phone, in the Android Marketplace, the MX version number doesn't show up.

I'm looking now and it's offering "Update." Got it.

Thank you!

The NZ charts would be great. Hope you can make time for these. Keep up the good work.

Re: Android Development Underway

Is there an alternative source of the application files I am happy to pay the 5.99 but the Android market will not let me download if i do not have an android phone assocated with the google account. I can run Android on my pc and ipad I am also testing converting the NGA charts to use with the app I am not asking for a freebie but MV Mariner on a PC and ipad would be cool as well as wordwide charts from NGA

regards

Richard

The new ASUS Transformer sounds like an interesting combination of a good size pad as well as the power and facilities of a working laptop. Only problem is it does not have G3, but has both WiFi and Bluetooth. All of 18 hours battery time.
