Hey guys,

I just released an update 1.5.3 which fixes a chart info query bug and has some performance increase changes which will probably be noticeable if you're using an older device. Quarter 1 (2014) chart region updates are available now in MX Mariner. Additionally, some ground work has been laid for Active Captain support. (Which is not yet visible in the app). I've set up a Google Group for would be beta testers: https://groups.google.com/d/forum/mx...r-beta-testers

If you're interested in testing some of the forthcoming Active Captain features, please join the group and participate in feedback which will make MX better.

Thanks,

Will

Re: Android Development Underway

An interesting wish list feature would be an alternative to AIS support, getting ship data for the charted area from Free AIS vessel tracking | AIS data exchange | XML vessel positions

Though certainly not preferable to a ship mounted receiver because coverage where one happens to be is not assured, I think this would be a natural on an Android mobile device which may have data connectivity, for folks with smaller simpler boats operated near shore, or for captains who may be delivering vessels without a lot of onboard tech.

There is also an app to share one's own ship position with marinetraffic.com, I expect aishub.net might have the equivalent.

Biscayne all the way down the Key chain can't be viewed at above three nm. Annoying to say the least.

I'll take a look into the quilting there.

Re: Android Development Underway

Thank you to everyone who joined the beta tester's group. I'm working hard at getting the first beta out the door. (Soon) And, I'm eager to get your feedback on the MX Mariner / Active Captain integration. I'm working on polishing up the UI and Active Captain data presentation. Here's a few screen shots:

An andoid Navigation Ap would be of immense benifit. Apple AP looks great but interfacing is problematic due to proprietary plug (no USB)
Windows remains to only current way to go but is absolutele junk when handling USB ports with a GPS antenae.

MX Cart: Anyone else having problems with running MX Cart?

I get the following errors for MX Cart 1.07 Beta:

Error 4 C:/BSB/12352/12352_1_c.vrt does not exist in the file system, and is not recognized as a supported dataset name.

mxcart.exe error: It is not possible to open the input file C:/BSB/12352_1_c.vrt.

The program runs with this error listed, but never finishes the conversion.

I believe I'm running the latest version with the GUI.

Any thoughts? Thanks

Re: Android Development Underway

I could get about 30 images to go together but it would always not finish with more. I need to get about 60 grouped together.

I sent files and error message in for review. It looked like the app was corrupting a file it was working on. I did have a case where if I kept removing that file I could eventually get the 30 image one to build.

MX Mariner 1.5.4 ALPHA 3 is now available to the beta testers group.

This is the first test ALPHA release... featuring Active Captain support. This build is still a work in progress in places, but demonstrates
core Active Captain display functionality.

Enable Active Captain in MX Mariner by going to: menu --> settings --> active captain in MX Mariner and enter your creds

MX Mariner users who are part of the beta testers Google group can enable themselves to receive betas through Google Play by going here. https://play.google.com/apps/testing/mx.mariner

Re: Android Development Underway

Setup as a tester, received a screen acknowledgement.

Using the link, tried browsers and Playstore with the same results, version installed was reported to be: 1.5.3.

Looked in settings to verify Active Captain is not present.

I did not remove my previous version.

Looks like I had something set up wrong. You should see 1.5.4 ALPHA 3
available in about an hour or so (Google Play takes a little bit of
time to update).

Thanks,

Will

Re: Android Development Underway

MX Cart issues, ctd. see post above.

The latest release of MX Cart doesn't want to run on my computer:
3.5 GHz Intel Quad Core, 8 GB RAM, Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit

It will run the earlier version of MX Cart 1.03 Beta, but that version produces a xxx.data file instead of the xxx.zdat file be required by MX Mariner.

I'm looking for a work-around - maybe I need to dig out my old 486 computer from the basement?

Any thoughts? Thanks

Works!
Presently downloading Active Captain data.

The only odd part was at the Active Captain login you enter in your email address instead of your account captain name. Which I assume was the user name. Have two choices is one choice to many.

Whaler,

The MX Cart chart import utility is definitely still in an "experimental" state as stated in the app. That is why I don't list it as an actual feature yet. However, if the older MX Cart is working for you, the <file>.data <file>.gemf produced region will work. The only difference is some of the meta-data available on charts, so chart information including depths will not be displayed.
