AIS Target List not there

With numerous AIS targets displayed, I have tried the right click menu, click on "AIS Target List" but nothing happens. If I either right click on an AIS target or anywhere on the screen, the "AIS target list" option is in the pop up menu but it doesn't work. Any Ideas?

Is the list hidden under the main window perhaps?

Windows 7 enterprise. Open cpn 4.2.0, not hidden behind, tried minimising open cpn to look.

Can you post your opencpn.ini file here?
You will find it under C:\ProgramData\opencpn.
Rename it to .doc in order to be able to post it.

If you feel comfortable to browse the settings look for a line starting with:
AISTargetListPerspective
and post just this line

UnderC: there is no folder ProgramData but there is Program Files, in Program Files there is a sub folder named OpenCPN. In this folder there are many dll files and some sub folders but can't find any file with a .ini suffix.

The ProgramData folder is probably just hidden. Try copying and pasting the location into the Windows Explorer address bar.

Try C:\Users\All Users\opencpn then look for opencpn.ini

Or just do a search for opencpn.ini and you will have to be sure you have the correct one if there are two.

I use notepad++ to open opencpn.ini and search for AIS until I find

You could also look in your opencpn.log file too to see if there is an error listed.

Also, perhaps your AIS Target List is hidden behind the Opencpn full screen (it shouldn't be, but try minimizing Opencpn and drag Opencpn around to see if the Target List appears. Normally the AIS target list stays right on top all the time.
It is also resizeable and can be made into a small Red box with an X. So look for that too, then drag it out..

Thanks for your response, all help appreciated.The "hidden behind " idea was mentioned early on in this thread, and I am absolutely sure it is not there, it was the first thing I thought of myself. However, looking at your AIS target list perspective line, that you pasted, there are a couple of differences, could that be anything to do with it.

Comment out yours and try pasting in mine. Or rename the file and then copy it back to opencpn.ini then make the change. And see what happens.
Be careful. Copy back original if it does not work.

Maybe it is off the screen? That's the most likely. There are keystrokes to move it back. I've forgotten them.

Another option is just to rename the ini file so that OCPN will crate a virgin one.
You will have to introduce your settings again.

you were right! off the screen. I was fiddling about and saw under "view" tab I could enter full screen. When I did that I could just see the top of the target list box at the bottom of my screen, just had to drag it up. It had been obscured by the bar at the bottom of the chart that disappears when you enter full screen mode. thanks, solved
