AIS target list

I noticed that the dialog position and size of the AIS target list is not remembered and had raised this in traker #2277

Maybe other users want to add their vote so that this bug gets resolved or am I the only one who uses that list.

skipperearly..
I'm on Win10 using latest O 4.8 and my AIS target list position and size is actually remembered both within and between O sessions.

strange - I'm also on Win10 with O 4.8 but does not remember. Could you share your ini file please, maybe my ini (attached) is missing some settings?

There is an earlier Feature Request with more detail that has been "vetted"
Freddy would you please vote for this and add your comments to this one, so that we can close your duplicate?

There are some other improvements that should be considered too, so please consider voting for this too.

Sorry for a late answer.
The code for this window is, for me, not very clear.
But two things:
1) From the code:"If the list got accidentally dropped on top of the chart bar, move it away...." Then it's of course moved to a safe position.
2)Your config file says x.position = -2, my 126. For a test change your "floatx=-2" to "floatx=50" and see what's happening. Then slightly move the window and close it with the "Close" button. Where is it opened on next show and the same after OCPN restart.

I don't know if this helps but it may be a bug trace?
Håkan

Code:
Your ini:
AISTargetListPerspective=name=AISTargetList;caption=AIS target list;state=2103265;dir=4;layer=0;row=0;pos=0;prop=100000;bestw=700;besth=140;minw=-1;minh=-1;maxw=-1;maxh=-1;floatx=-2;floaty=754;floatw=1232;floath=240
My ini:
AISTargetListPerspective=name=AISTargetList;caption=AIS lista;state=2103265;dir=4;layer=0;row=0;pos=0;prop=100000;bestw=700;besth=150;minw=-1;minh=-1;maxw=-1;maxh=-1;floatx=126;floaty=57;floatw=1115;floath=422

Thanks Hakan for guidance but didnt make any difference. Changed the ini file (O not opened) floatx=50 but couldnt see any difference. changed then also the various -1's in maxh/maxw etc ... again no visual impact.
I also deleted all in AISTargetListPerspective= ... , was then rebuild after close but always centered as per defaults.
I am currently testing on the dry ( AIS target list is empty) - could this be the reason nothing changes?

I cannot really help because I use my very own version of OpenCPN.
But it all works here as it should. The settings are saved in opencpn.ini
with:
Code:
AISTargetListPerspective=name=AISTargetList;caption=Liste AIS-Ziele;state=2103265;dir=4;layer=0;row=0;pos=0;prop=100000;bestw=700;besth=150;minw=-1;minh=-1;maxw=-1;maxh=-1;floatx=828;floaty=174;floatw=1080;floath=615
AISTargetListRange=2000
AISTargetListSortColumn=8
bAISTargetListSortReverse=0
AISTargetListColumnSpec=32;167;72;80;56;98;96;48;64;48;48;
floatx and floaty are the upper left points of the list and floatw is the width and floath is the height of the list. Other settings are saved as well.

Re: AIS target list

Here is my opencpn.ini settings

Quote:
AISTargetListPerspective=name=AISTargetList;captio n=AIS target list;state=2103233;dir=4;layer=0;row=0;pos=0;prop= 100000;bestw=700;besth=300;minw=-1;minh=-1;maxw=-1;maxh=-1;floatx=407;floaty=47;floatw=1320;floath=1119
AISTargetListRange=40
AISTargetListSortColumn=8
bAISTargetListSortReverse=0
AISTargetListColumnSpec=100;262;84;120;84;196;144; 72;96;72;86;
Gerhard, I just checked AIS Target again and the revised postion and window size settings are not saved. I will have to look and compare the settings,I guess. Hakan also had some specific info I should check in more detail.

PS: I also tried closing with the "CLOSE" button, with the same result.

Re: AIS target list

After I move the Target list, resize to quite small and put it in the lower right corner and then hit CLOSE

Quote:
AISTargetListPerspective=name=AISTargetList;captio n=AIS target list;state=2103233;dir=4;layer=0;row=0;pos=0;prop= 100000;bestw=700;besth=300;minw=-1;minh=-1;maxw=-1;maxh=-1;floatx=1439;floaty=831;floatw=678;floath=357
AISTargetListRange=40
AISTargetListSortColumn=8
bAISTargetListSortReverse=0
AISTargetListColumnSpec=100;262;84;120;84;196;144; 72;96;72;86;
There appears to be a change in the coords in the first line.

However when the Target list is opened again, these are not recognized.

Re: AIS target list

Now the ini file changed without my changing anything! and it is set too

Quote:
AISTargetListPerspective=name=AISTargetList;captio n=AIS target list;state=2103233;dir=4;layer=0;row=0;pos=0;prop= 100000;bestw=700;besth=300;minw=-1;minh=-1;maxw=-1;maxh=-1;floatx=407;floaty=47;floatw=1320;floath=1119
AISTargetListRange=40
AISTargetListSortColumn=8
bAISTargetListSortReverse=0
AISTargetListColumnSpec=100;262;84;120;84;196;144; 72;96;72;86;

Are we overlooking some setting perhaps?
If so, we should note this in the User Manual for sure!!!
