AIS NMEA messages not acquired.

I have implemented an AIS receiver using RTL-SDR dongle with J-pole antenna and SDR#. NMEA !AIVDM sentences demodulated with AISmon,
Everything OK, AIS glitches are recognised and the !AIVDM sentences correctly decoded and logged in the log file. I can read them off-line with an NMEA decoder.
Now, for displaying them i am trying to use OpenCPN.
The data connection is via localhost UDP (127.0.0.1:10110) set both on AISmon and OpenCPN connection, but the NMEA sentences are not passed from AISMON to OpenCPN.
Any suggestion? Might it be a firewall blocking?
I am trying to investigate using nmap/ncat tool.
Thank you for the support.

Same problem but only when internet is disconnected, even with router is on.

The aismon "ip port" bar, turn to red color when receiving ais data.

Re: AIS NMEA messages not acquired.

Can connect a bridge between RX and TX in a real com port or use the software "virtual serial port emulator".

Im tested: connect the network card to a router, connect two network cards with each other,... this solutions work but at lite time, fails again...

Re: AIS NMEA messages not acquired.

To be honest, several years since touching a pc with Vista,,,

Maybe try: data connection is via localhost UDP (localhost:10110)

You might as well try to install Xinutop on USB drive for testing and boot from that USB drive. Marinux Website

You can do all your testing form the USB drive and Opencpn is already installed on the USB .

Re: AIS NMEA messages not acquired.

disable your firewall and see if that fixes it. It's a tip I got from user did-g when opencpn wasn't receiving messages. Another possibility is that opencpn doesn't filter out proprietory details in hexadceimal/ or nulls. filtering null bytes out before sending message to opencpn was also necessary in my case.

Re: AIS NMEA messages not acquired.

Perhaps try navmonpc get navmonpc recieving the ais and showing it. Then establish a virtual port to make the data available to opencpn.

Have you read the manual? Both.the Connection settings and AIS?
